Very much looking forward to this one too!
I have a hard time when Leo trots out an accent, but other than that, all the reviews have been promising.

Yeah, I'll just grin and bear it when Leo's on screen, his appeal as an actor to me is very hit-or-miss. I'm glad that Scorsese is making a story "not just about the white guys," which has ruined other movies focused on Native Americans. Windtalkers is an especially egregious example that follows Nicholas Cage's character instead of, you know, the Navajo code talkers whose language could no be broken by Nazi Germany!

Yeah, I wish he'd just make the choice to keep his rather distinctive regular voice all the time, I couldn't make it 10 mins into Blood Diamond with that accent attempt. That said, this movie sounds fascinating and I'm glad I looked up what it was about because the title made me think it was some kind of dippy Halloween thriller that I wouldn't be interested in. Never would've guessed the subject matter from the title alone.

I read this book and will definitely be seeing the movie. I love the DiCaprio/Scorsese collaborations. But one of the stars of 'Reservation Dogs' called the experience of watching this movie "Fucking Hellfire" and slammed Scorsese for “painting Native folks as helpless victims without agency.” I would argue that that's the point of the movie. In this historical time period, the Osage had their agency, their money, and their lives unjustly stolen from them. So obviously, there is a huge trigger warning for this movie in terms of racial discrimination and violence, and Jacobs must've known at least an outline of what it would be about. My teenage kids want to see it, and I looked up the parents' guide and it says about two dozen people are murdered. I mean, Scorsese movies are violent, that's a given. I agree with this, but this was not the kind of story that KOTFM is at all. It's an atrocity that was hidden for too long. We have political leaders working to remove any mention of these kinds of historical events from the school curriculum. I hope there can be more movies/entertainment that can show broader aspects of Native American life (like her show Reservation Dogs).

I'm really infuriated that she missed the point that it covers a tragedy that hasn't (and won't) be taught in schools. Her show is about everyday experiences. She needs to be angry at someone else.
