I started this thread to post this article. I really do love her character on L&O, and I didn't know she was a Michigan native.

I really like her charecter too and was very pleased that she won the award. On a completly shallow note, I like the fact that a woman who isn't a hollywood cookie cutter goddess, but is still very atttractive, was recognized recently.
I also hope the win leads to more roles from her. Her genuine shock and pleasure at winning was endearing.

She is a fabulous actress and seems very likeable in real life. I hope we see more of her in the future.
Eta: Her Emmy dress, that is pictured in the article linked above is gorgeous. Love the dress, love the bag, love it. She looks great.

I adore her. I don't know much about her personal life, but what I do know indicates that she's very nice and intelligent. And she's a terrific actress. I used to watch L&O reruns every night when I had a television, and I love Lt. van Buren.

She has a role in Hustle and Flow director Craig Brewer's new film called Black Snake Moan. It costars Samuel L. Jackson, Christina Ricci and another underappreciated New York Stage actress, Adriane Lenox.

She's awesome. I saw her Off-Broadway back in 1987, as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill, and she blew the place away. Love her.

I love her-she's just great. I remember her on Pee-Wee's Playhouse! And she had a small role in Terminator 2..
I can't believe she's 53!

She's got a great speaking voice. It's hard to describe but it's kind of masculine (not too high) but powerful and feminine at the same time. Oh, and Lt. Van Buren rocks!

I remember catching her debut on Law & Order - she guest starred as a grieving mother before she was cast as Lt. Van Buren. I love that! I love that they had her back and made her a regular as a completely different character. Ah, Lt. Van Buren. What a great character, what a classy, great actress.
