I remember a while back, when she was promoting her diaries, she did an interview with Evan Solomon on Hot Type. She said that her daughter was more embarassed about her weight gain than her drug use. Great. I call bullshit, since the pictures I've seen of Frances Bean show that she's an average-size teenage girl. I doubt she's distraught over the possibility of her mother being too "fat" to wear couture. Lame excuse, Courtney. The sad thing is, Courtney rocked back in her Hole days. She was aware that fans hated her for marrying Kurt Cobain, but she was fearless and never hid her ambition. Now she's like any other B-movie actress, who figures one more nose job will be the thing to put her over the top.

I agree with you, viridian. I don't think Francis is all that embarrassed about Courtney's weight, it's more her reputation. You can bet Francis has heard all about it, since she's a teen now.
I'm sure many kids have told her, "I heard your Mom flashed Pam Anderson at that roast and she is on drugs. OMG!"
Can't wait for the tell-all book which will be sure to come from the Bean. After all, a scenario in which a parent OD's and tells her kid it's just a fun little game is sure to have a publisher interested!

From what little I've seen and heard from Frances Bean I have high hopes for her. She seems like the kind of kid who would tell other kids - yeah, my mom is a fat crack whore, so what! - I'm sure she's had such a saturation of embarrassment and disappointment over the years that she's learned how to deal with her crazy mom by now and might become stronger for it. Not all kids with messed up parents have to become messed up adults themselves.

I doubt she's distraught over the possibility of her mother being too "fat" to wear couture. The funny/sad thing is that Frances looks almost exactly like Courtney did as a teenager, and even similar (facially, etc) to the way she was before her big surgical "makeover". So I wouldn't be suprised if it was the other way around, and Courtney was offloading her own self-hatred onto Frances by telling her she's never pretty or thin enough. I wish Courtney'd give up the pretense of being an artist/musician now --IMO she was never particularly talented or driven by anything other than the desire for fame. She's about as much of a "musician" (and tabloid staple) as Britney --she got whatever reputation for talent or innovation she has through associating and collaborating with (and ripping off?) more talented people and contributing little of her own.

She did show some talent as an actress, but now her face is so messed up nobody would want to see it on the big screen. She had a chance at being a movie star and I think Hollywood really welcomed her, but now she's got the face of a character actor who has to play ugly. What a waste.

She did show some talent as an actress, but now her face is so messed up nobody would want to see it on the big screen. That's true --she was good in People Vs. Larry Flynt , but it seemed like she was drawing on or exploiting her "real life" persona too much throughout her acting career. A lot of that could've been the result of typecasting, though --who knows?

*trying to get inside the mind of a teenage girl*What's more embarassing? Your mother not being able to wear couture* or your mother letting some random homeless dude suck on your nipple in public/ your mother holing herself up in the Chateau Marmont for weeks getting high/ your mother getting evicted from her New York apartment/ your mother publicly feuding with your grandmother over your welfare/ your mother stalking her ex-boyfriend and his new partner/ your mother making up stories about encounters with Nicole Kidman in elevators? That's a tough one. *which is bullshit anyway because if it's real couture it's made to fit you so theoretically Orca The Whale could wear couture if he/she/it so desired!

You know, I don't think that Courtney's combination of craziness and evil is rooted in ANY childhood trauma. I think it's just the way she is. She's like Axl Rose in that regard. Every now and then there are people who are just born that way, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. From what I understand, she has siblings who turned out more or less okay.

I don't think her upbringing helped, but at some point you have to start taking responsibility for your actions and not blaming the world.

Yeah, the homeless guy in Wendy's takes the cake for embarrassing things that a celeb mother did. I hope Frances never sees those pictures.
