I agree with you that Kathleen Hanna's criticized other women (although i agree with her) but she at least does support a lot of women artists who don't get that much attention. Courtney is "friends" with women (read: celebrities/aristocrats/fashion designers) for the name-dropping. I rarely read/hear her saying "This [woman artist] is totally awesome, you should check them out". She is all about Courtney, Courtney, Courtney. Her ego can't take other women getting any attention in her presence.

The mousy partner ENJOYS having an asshole by their side. The asshole serves as a front and says and does things the mousy one is afraid to. They live vicariously through them (while keeping their nose clean). I wonder if that was part of what Kurt liked about Courtney? He LIKED when she'd get up in people's faces and created scenes, started feuds, etc because he didn't want to do it himself.

In the Edward-Courtney relationship, that was a relationship of two assholes, unfortunately. It didn't appear that way at the time, but Edward is anything but mousy.

He seems to be a douchebag of the typical entitled celebrity variety. I do know he insisted upon an all hemp suit for a scene in "Death to Schmoochy." Doesn't his family have money too? I believe he attended Harvard or Yale.

His grandfather invented the modern urban village - i.e., the planned suburb with mall, everything looks the same, all the streets have brick in the road, etc - see Columbia, MD. Yeah he is from a privileged background. Courtney's mom was too, so it seems like Courtney got a lot of that same sort of entitlement with a heaping helping of parental neglect = stew of a mess of a goulash of weird snobbery combined with utter trashiness.

Dig up the Edward Norton thread for the many, repeated instances of him being an egomaniac of gigantic proportions and an angry douchebag who many directors refuse now to work with. The last time I saw Edward Norton on TV was going into a Barack Obama inauguration party, a very upbeat occasion, and somebody touched him on the arm & asked him for a picture or an autograph and he flew off the handle and yelled "Don't put your hands on me!" and rushed away. I used to like him.

I don't know if her mom's family was that wealthy. Certainly not on a par with Edward Norton's. Courtney's mom sounds like a flake of the first order, but not an intentionally malicious person like Courtney's wacko father.

Oh interesting dirt on Edward Norton. He does seem pretty assy. Birds of a feather. I think the same might be true of her and Billy Corgan too (?) There goes my theory. Hah
