Having plastic surgery does not necessarily make one age well, look at Joan Rivers. I don't know Tina's secrets but she looks fabulous. I wish I had homes in Zurich and the south of France; oh well, I can take up yoga (ha!).
Tina's receiving her Kennedy Center Honor tonight along with Robert Redford, Tony Bennett, and Suzanne Farrell. I can't remember but there may be another honoree.

Jeebus, she just turned 66 (November 26) TT's older than 66... She held at 55 for like 10 years back during her comeback in the late 80s through the mid-90s. She's birthed children who are nearly 60. Even with the plastic surgery, she looks at least 72. She wears good wigs though, I give her that.

I'm thinking people admire her more for her live shows, her showmanship and the energy she gives out, then her music.
Yoga , meditation and a better way of life is her recipe she says. I'll take it. (and the money it takes to live it) Though I have to admit it, some of my older friends who meditate do look better than others their age, and it's free.

Was on the same flight as her from Zurich to London nearly 2 years ago now. She didn't draw attention to herself while we were waiting at the gate to board, nor did she on the flight. I had no real opinion of her beforehand but suppose I expected her to be all diva-ish being a big star but she wasn't at all. Unassuming almost. I only realised it was her as we both went for the same spot in the queue and I let her ahead of me - then I recognised her.
She travelled in first class (natch) and had a male companion who I placed as being in his mid-late forties. Seemed like a business relationship - agent maybe?. She looks well for her age. She looked like a woman in her late fifties.

Does she have kids she doesn't acknowledge? Googling finds her two natural sons (as opposed to Ike's other boys she raised) were born in 1958 (with one of Ike's bandmates) and 1964 (with Ike).
I remember seeing a story about one of her sons living on the streets of LA. Anyone know the story on that?

Okay, let's do the math: 2005-1958 (probably the age of the youngest) = 47. Though my comment was an exaggerated jest, she says she just turned 66, so that would have made her 19 when she had the youngest cihild. I say she was older than that when she had the youngest child because, horror of horrors, even idolized meditating, chanting Buddhist folk like Tina Turner shave years off their age.
I say she's 70, maybe 72, which in the 21st century doesn't mean she's decrepit nor unattractive. As I often tell my mother, 70 today means senior citizen, not elderly, as it did when my grandmother was 70.
There are 40-somethings that look older than her, I know that. I also know too that for years back in the 80s and 90s, she held at an age somewhere in the 50s, and wouldn't budge. Plus, I saw an interview of her back in the 90s when her natural head of gray hair was peeking out from under the wig.
The guy she was seen with on the plane was probably her man, who is considerably younger than she is.

I don't think she's shaved years off her age. She says she's 66 now, which makes her older than Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney and other peers from that era, and in her early 30's during her "River Deep" heyday, when she looked in her twenties.
I don't know why it's surprising she had a kid at 19. She hooked up with Ike when she was 17, and this was the late 50's. Girls had kids a lot younger then: look at Aretha Franklin and Loretta Lyn, to name two other stars.

Who said I'm surprised? My mother had my brother when she was 19, and I was born when she was 20, so I am well-aware of the mores of 1950s society. In fact, some women still have babies in the late teens, early 20s, and even younger, as my cousin had a baby at 14. That isn't my argument at all.... IMO, Anna Mae Bullock is older than she says she is. Obviously, YMMV. It was O! who saluted TT at the Kennedy Center. TT looks really good there, much better that the younger O!. I still love the Ike and Tina Turner Revue's 'Proud Mary'. That is one of her best performances IMO.

We don't need another hero because we had Tina. RIP legend.
