I searched and couldn't find a thread on him. Apparently him and his wife are divorcing. link

That's too bad! They seemed very solid. I remember reading that she was his only friend because he is so anti-social.

Wasn't her mother the basis for his "coffee talk" character?

Wasn't her mother the basis for his "coffee talk" character? Yup. The hair, the name, the accent, the mannerisms, it's all mom-in-law. Mike's wife is going to make a bundle on this divorce. They married in '93, before he'd made much money at all. Good on her, though, because I think he'd be pretty high-maintenance and difficult to live with. Seems a nice guy, just a bit precious.

I just posted about the break-up in the Divorce Pool thread. I am really surprised - I knew them a bit years ago when they were dating. They seemed perfectly matched.
On a different level, I have to say that some of his comedy schtick he uses now is material he was using back in the late 80's.

That one caught me off-guard. That's a bummer.
I love Mike. I love the Austin Powers series. Love them.

Surprising. I thought they were very compatible. Robin can take some solace in the ca-ching she'll receive.

He does seem to alienate people. Just appears to depend on how long they'll tolerate him. From what I've read, he's a contrast on and off screen almost on a Johnny Carson level.

There is only one thing that bothers me about him. I hate that he has to appear almost completley naked in every movie he's in! It's not funny Mike. It's just..eww.

Ever since I've seen MM in a few candid/non-scripted situations, I've disliked him. He comes across very badly when he's not reading from a script or being the funny comedian guy character. Arrogant, insecure, desperate to be famous/liked.
He did a spot on one of those shows Conan did in Toronto and he was AWFUL. Ugh.
