I didn't know the name, but I sure recognized the face. IMO, he was the epitome of Hey It's That Guy!, and I'm surprised it took them until 2004 to profile him.

In addition to Fast Times at Ridgemont High didn't he play another teacher role in Better Off Dead?
I'm pretty sure he played the teacher who went out with John Cusack's ex-girlfriend, the one he was trying to kill himself over.

Oh, yes, I remember him as the math teacher in Better Off Dead - I loved how it was a running gag in the movie that John Cusack keeps running into to guys who ask him things like, "I heard you broke up with Beth, so would you mind if I asked her out?" And Vincent - as the teacher - asks JC to stay after class, and it sounds like he's going to talk to him about his poor performance, but instead asks, "Would you mind if I took out Beth?"
Then later in the movie you see him driving out of the school parking lot with Beth in his car and he gives JC a smug little wave as he passes him. Of all the guys who asked him about Beth, he was the only one who actually snagged a date with her (other than her new, "popular, better looking, drives a nicer car" boyfriend). Awesome.

He was also very good as the angry guy in Ghost. He had a son with Allyce Beasley, who would be about 18-20 years old now. I'm curious to see what the kid looks like, because that's a unique genetic mash-up there. Don't know what year this is from but here's a picture.

Very sorry to hear this. I will always remeber him from Amadeus as one of the guys who discovers Salieri, bleeding, at the beginning of the movie. And I'm not surprised that Andrea has dark hair, as both his parents are dark, but I remember seeing him as a toddler and his hair was fluffy and blond. He looks like his mom.
Vincent, thank you for all your great, memorable work. Rest in peace.

Thanks for the picture, Rose Prose. Wow, he does look like the perfect mixture of his mom and his dad . I think he looks a wee bit more like his mom, because he doesn't have his dad's hound dog eyes, which I think were his dad's most striking feature.

I always thought he was a great actor, but could really tell what a nice guy he was from his cookbooks. I have all three of them. They're interesting and beautifully written and definitely say a lot about him and his family. I saved that Gourmet article about him in Sicily also. I'm sorry to see him gone.

This sucks. Why do all the good actors die and leave us with the crap ones?
