My only theory is that E! has no money. I don't know what their ratings are, but they must be one poor cable network. Maybe there's some serious embezzlement going on or something, but the people they hire are so far down on the fame ladder and so inept (Well, I like Debbie M and Kathy Griffin) that they're willing to accept anyone who has the slightest bit of fame with even the most obscure of niche audiences. They're only going to be on the Red Carpet for, like, what? 5 days out of the year?
That is a good theory, but didn't they just sign Ryan Seacrest to do the E! news for 35 million? I am going with the theory that he is blowing someone at E!. I honestly think he is the main reason that not many celebrities talked to him or E! during the Oscars. I didn't see Felicity Hoffman or Reese talk to him.
But I would be totally embarrassed to do the red carpet if I was him. It wasn't too long ago that people were wearing his creations on the red carpet. Now he has to stoop to the low level of asking celebrities "what are you wearing?" and to hear the names of designers that were probably competition to Mizrahi a couple of years ago. Sad...
But I am sure he is making some money designing for Target.
