Love her - she's just breathtakingly gorgeous IMHO. I first saw her in Ella Enchanted. I watched it with my nieces and expected to hate it, but I actually loved it. She has great talent and comedic timing, and her singing voice was very pretty. Best of all, so far she doesn't seem to be a famewhore. I hope she keeps choosing (mostly) good roles and doesn't succumb to the Lindsay/Jessuka/Paris drunken famewhore lifestyle.

But when I saw her at the Golden Globes...she literally made me recoil.

That crazy red lipstick, she turned to grin at the camera and it looked smeared around her lips.

I don't think she's a bad actress but I saw her on both Ellen and Oprah and she annoyed the hell out of me on both. Something abot her really pissed me off.

What really turns me off about her is her pretentious attitude. Everytime I see her I think she's a little too smug for someone who made a career out of stupid Disney movies. The Princess Diaries wasn't the high art she acts like it was.

I don't know what it is about her, but she bugs. Maybe it's her googly eyes and extra large red lips. I haven't seen brokeback mountain yet (don't shoot me) so when I saw a bit of the awards show, I was like: what is that chick doing there? She looked out of place. I dunno... she just bugs. Can't place a finger on it.

Did anyone see her Golden Globe red carpet interview with Isaac Mizrahi? He asked her about the blonde wig she wore in BBM. She agreed that she makes a horrible blond, but then said that her "arch rival" tried to convince her to go blond. Arch rival? To borrow a line from King of Queens-- who is she, Catwoman? I was annoyed, but then I spent the next 10 minutes trying to figure out who it is. I narrowed it down to Emmy Rossum and Scarlett Johansson.

Actually, Anne Hathaway was the name of Shakespeare's wife.

Aaaaaand now I feel like a dumbass who has shamed English majors everywhere. Whoops! I swear I knew that. I even started reading a book about Shakespeare's wife (fiction, and I forget what it was called), but it was so annoying I couldn't finish it.

But I still hate her. I too think it has something to do with her crazily exaggerated facial features.

I can't remember if this is true or not, but didn't Anne really want the Christine role in Phantom? I thought I heard that rumor somewhere...that would explain the Emmy hate.

And my $.02 on the whole is-she-or-isn't-she-pretty, I think she can be pretty, but only from certain angles and with certain hair and make-up combinations.

She's kind of like Jennifer Aniston...Jennifer has figured out a hair and makeup style that works for her, and she refuses to change it, because she knows that others won't make her look as good. Anne is like that...the soft hair, natural makeup works, but when she plays around with more dramatic looks, she looks weird (clown lips, anyone?--and I didn't think too much of the smoky eyed look she was sporting at the SAGs). Her features are just so prominent that the tiniest bit of makeup makes them look downright dinosaur-like.
