Fatboy Slim's first band and a damn good band in their own right. Their version of "Caravan of Love" is one of the few covers that rocks.

I always wondered what sort of music they were. I remember seeing their name come up with others such as "Happy Mondays," "Soup Dragons" and "10,000 Maniacs." Are they techno?

Whenever someone asks me, "What's your favorite song that you just can't keep still to?", the first song that has come to mind for the past 20 years is "Happy Hour" by the Housemartins. In fact, I can't believe I don't have that on my iPod! I'll have to correct that oversight when I get home! ;D

You tube has happy hour. Housemartins weren't techno. They were pop, quirky pop

Wow, this brings back memories. When they broke up, kids in my high school were wearing safety pins on their clothes as a protest. These were kids I didn't even know liked alternative music (and trust me, in rural Pa in the 80s, the Housemartins were indeed alternative).

Hey! I went to college in rural PA, in Lock Haven, in the mid 80s when the Housemartins were popular! Man, what a small world - and thanks for the tip about "Happy Hour" on You Tube!

Now wait, Lock Haven sounds really familiar-what part of the state is it? And what was your college named?
I remmber the Housemartins performing Caravan on the Brit Awards. I wish that was You tubed!

What? No love for the song "People Who Grinned Themselves to Death"?
I had totally forgotten the connection between them and Fat Boy Slim.

Now wait, Lock Haven sounds really familiar-what part of the state is it? And what was your college named? Central PA - Lock Haven University. It's about a half hour from Penn State.
