I tried to see if IMDb mentioned any heart surgery, MaryWebGirl, but found nothing. I did see a few other things though:

1- He holds the record for the longest unbroken streak of Razzie nominations. 13 straight years. He somehow received a Razzie Nomination every year (mostly for Worst Actor) from 1985 to 1997. As of 2004, he is the all time Razzie Award champion, with a record 30 nominations and 10 "wins", more than any other person in history. Heee!

2- Apparently, he's uncut.

3- Janice Dickinson had this to say about him, among her many other lovers:

As a lover, [Jack] Nicholson was passable. "You were OK, Jack," she writes. As she was leaving his hotel room, Nicholson offered this titbit of advice: "Don't tell anyone you've got star cum inside you." Before his marriage (let's hope!) Liam was a major ho. He slept with tons of women. Like, anyone famous and Irish and any and all of his female co-stars (exaggerating, but not really). I can't say that I wouldn't try to take advantage of being near Liam and try to get some. Dude is sex on legs!

I love the first Rocky. It is one of the finest examples of a chick movie dressed in guy movie clothing. Stallone as a person really does suck though. Oh well.

In the absence of HunterGrayson's input, here is some amusing stuff. Snopes' page discussing Sly's first film, a porn flick. And from IMDb, a description of "A Party at Kitty and Stud's": "Kitty and Stud are lovers. They enjoy a robust sex-life, which includes fellatio and light S&M, specifically, Stud belt-whipping Kitty. Three women come over for a party and Stud services them, one after the other. "

As for Stallone being an ass, he is. Without a doubt. But he seems to have a really difficult childhood.

A foreceps accident during his birth severed a facial nerve, leaving Stallone with parts of his lip, tongue, and chin paralyzed. In doing so, the accident imprinted Stallone with some of the most recognizable components of his persona: the distinctively slurred (and some say often nearly incomprehensible) speech patterns, drooping lower lip and crooked left eye that have been eagerly seized upon by cariacturists. To compound these defects, Stallone was a homely, sickly child who once suffered from rickets. His parents were constantly at war and struggling to support Stallone and his younger brother Frank Stallone (who became a B movie actor). The elder brother spent most of his first five years in the care of foster homes.

Another site says, "Because his parents' marriage was on the rocks, Stallone lived in foster homes until the age of 5. To add to the separation from his parents, his childhood in Hell's Kitchen was only tainted with loneliness and ridicule. " At one point, he was expelled from 14 schools in 11 years.

He was even named "Most Likely to End Up in the Electric Chair" (!!!) by his classmates in his yearbook.

I'm not making excuses for him. To me, he's not only a caricature but also an unquestionable P***k in how he's treated woman. But I do feel sorry for what he went through early on in his life and respect the fact that he didn't bleat about it every second possible when he was a big star. (Unlike some I could name... Tom Cruise, I'm looking at you!)

The first time I ever heard of autism was in public service announcements on tv where he talked about his son living in a world of his own. When my own son was diagnosed a decade ago, Sylvester Stallone's commercials were the ONLY thing I knew about autism.

Since then I've heard that his wife raised the child that he almost never sees. He said it really doesn't matter because he doesn't even recognize him when he does see him. He seems very broken hearted about his son, but also rather uncaring. Like he made a better life for himself and it doesn't include an autistic son.

Oh! I'm a Rocky fan! I loved the original one, and I was surprised that the second one was as good as it was. And I did love the twist where, eventually, Apollo Creed became Rocky's mentor. I don't know much about this latest thing, except that the reviews were surprisingly positive. They by no means called it a great movie, but apprarently it wasn't too bad.

I was impressed with him in Copland.

Apollo took over and was killed by Drago. Rocky avenged him despite Drago's "I will break you like I broke you friend" threat
