Elizabeth didn't become well-known until she was already an adult though, she was in her early 20s when Martha Marcy May Marlene came out. So she was spared having to grow up in public and deal with all the other crap Mary Kate & Ashley had to deal with.

And continue to deal with on some level. People posted about that Net-a-Port interview last week, and so many people were like "OMG! I can't believe they won't make an appearance on Fuller House!!!!"

Good grief. How old were they when Full House went off the air? Five? They weren't really old enough to have ever become "friends" with Candace Cameron and Jodie Sweetin, and I'm sure they thought the men were nice but they were guys they saw a few hours a day. I'm sure they don't have the warm and fuzzy memories the rest of the cast shares, and that's OK.

And yet, they have. I admire that. They have beautiful clothing lines (no matter what the ridiculous cost point) and they're super involved with that. I like that they've gone in a direction they're passionate about and turned it into profitable careers. I like they didn't take the easy route and just stick with acting bc they could just go through the motions.

I find them very interesting in a weird way... I'd like to know what has really gone on in their lives re: the older boyfriends, eating disorders, the fashion business, cheesy children's movies, etc. I remember thinking it was so odd that MK was reportedly the first person Heath Ledger's masseuse called after finding him dead, even before calling 911. Hopefully one of them will write a tell-all someday (unlikely, I know, since they seem extremely private).

I think they like the lack of spotlight on them. That creepy meme would put me off wanting to be famous, which they didn't choose to begin with. Ashley quit acting at 18, and Mary Kate has done the odd tv episode or cameo but doesn't seem to be really driven to have a solo career onscreen.
