This line in one of the stories on the Indigo site made me raise an eyebrow: .
Run away, Jim!

I'm totally starting a Jenny McCarthy thread so we can talk about the crazy! Topic? I still think Jim Carrey is hot, especially with the long, floppity hair.

Ted Casablanca's stuff is completely incomprehensible to me. I think he writes while he's drunk.
As for Jim Carrey, I've always had the idea there's a screw loose, a serious one. And I'm so sick of the cliche of the comedien who "makes the world laugh" but is actually a tormented soul underneath it all. Come on, come up with something original you comediens!

He was always dressed well at awards shows when he was married to Lauren Holly but when he showed up naked with a figleaf, I figured he had finally gone off the rail.
Dumb and Dumber is a guilty pleasure of mine and I thought the other guy was the funny one, Carrey seemed mean.

He is incomprehensible, in a Paula Abdul kind of way, but seems to have some sort of vague information hidden in his ramblings. The part about peeing in public made me think of Jim peeing during filming of his movies. Also, he's always seemed to have a screw loose but seems to be crazier lately, making me think that his recreational drug use has racheted up a few notches. Did you ever see Robin Williams during the years when he was doing coke? Same sort of inappropriateness to the Nth degree. It's like taking crazy and putting it under a hot magnifying glass.

Dude seems to be crazy like a fox. There is a sort of unflattering profile of him in the March/April issue of Radar...yes Radar, is back for the third time, and yes I was/am a subscriber.

Does anyone else think he started to go really off the rails during the period when he was doing all these award-bait movies (Man in the Moon, The Majestic) and didn't get nominated for an Oscar? For some reason it always seemed to me that he was really bitter that his more serious work wasn't as critically acclaimed.

It could be, because he should have gotten something for "The Truman Show" because that was a really creative movie and he did a great job in it. Either that or he just managed to keep his crazy under wraps (ala Tom Cruise) and eventually the dam burst and the crazy ran out.

Actually the Radar piece talks about that....dude is obsessed with being a "serious" actor and getting an Oscar. It mentions how crushed he was when Winslet was nominated for ESOTSM and he wasn't. Also talks about Truman Show and Man on the Moon.
