TMZ knew something was fishy too[/color]. The family is saying no ILLEGAL drugs were in her system, but they are going "no comment" on prescription drugs. I don't know what they are trying to prove. Do they really think people will respect Amy more for having loaded up on Oxycontin and whiskey rather than cocaine? Not to mention, if she was taking opiates, they were either purchased illegally or prescribed by a crooked doctor, so the illegal vs legal part is questionable.

Ahh the joys of "multi-drug toxicity".

Paula Abdul emphasizes "I never took illegal drugs" too. But she certainly seems to always be sipping some vicodin water.
I don't really care... I give the parents a pass no matter what they say. Losing a child has got to be the worst thing you can ever go through, and if they want to spin the death into something they can live with - more power to them.

If she overdosed on legal/prescription drugs, there is the possibility that it was intentional. I am not sure that toxicology reports can conclusively prove whether an overdose was accidental or intentional.

With prescription, you can at least argue that she was trying to get better but things may have spiraled out of control.

Bump. Breaking news: According to the coroner, it wasn't the drugs that did her in; it was the alcohol.

Ahh. Very sad. I know her Dad was saying he thought it might have been alcohol withdrawl because she was laying off the booze. But if she had been sober for a while then went on an all night bender (as it seems she did) would that be more likely to kill her than someone who had been drinking steadily all along but then going on a bender?

From another article it said that her blood-alcohol level was 416 milligrams per 100 milliliters of blood. The level considered lethal is 350 milligrams per 100 milliliters of blood. Three empty vodka bottles were found in her place. That's a lot of alcohol to drink yourself on, probably, an empty stomach. When I was in high school I guy I knew had to have his stomach pumped because he got alcohol poisoning after drinking one 40 oz bottle. She was probably not much bigger than he was at the time.

Yeah, her blood alcohol level was .40%! When you consider the legal limit is usually around .06-.08, that's unbelievable. The coroner said that level of alcohol in your blood would easily put you into a coma and stop your breathing.
It's too bad that while she could apparently kick the drugs, she couldn't kick the booze.
