Just saw her on Jools Holland's New Year's Eve Hootenanny. Freaking amazing voice, but dear God, what the fuck was she wearing? Amy, sweetie, you're an amazing talent, but you have to learn how to (a) connect with your audience, and (b) dress. You don't have the tits for a dress like that any more, and it just looks stupid tugging at your skirt and the top of your dress all evening. Gain some weight, honey, and woo your audience a bit more. And stop wearing the beehive.

Sigh. It's weird, she's such a huge talent, but she's got to get her act together. Especially because right after her came Lily Allen, who isn't anything like as good a singer, but looked fabulous and connected with her audience.

I have just watched her perform on tv this morning for the New Year (in studio) and she looked tired, grumpy and thin. Arms covered with nondescript and overlarge tattoos and an insane beehive haircut that makes her look like she's about to topple over.

Fantastic voice though. The song was perhaps appropriately called 'Rehab'.

It seems like she's going to squander the opportunity she has.

She does not connect at all with the audience (from anything I've seen on Youtube). She mumbles performances. It sounds like she was wasted on part of "Back to Black".
There's video on YouTube of her on Charlotte Church's show. She was drunk and Charlotte carried the performance. Embarrasing.

Get it together, Amy. There's too much musical talent there to be wasted on booze. A "Where are they now" waiting to happen.

Aw, I thought the hair rocked and would even have been fine with the dress if she'd have stopped fiddling with it. Then again, I'm a fan of the 60's backcombed thing and silly dresses both, so maybe I'm a biased judge.

I generally love fucked up celebrities for the entertainment value, but I just find Amy sad and hope she gets her head sorted out and gains weight until she's beautiful again.

I love love love Rehab. Can't stop listening to it. Haven't made much headway on the album past the first 4 or so songs. It seems fabulous, but I think its going to be a grower.

She'd look much better if she stopped wearing her eyeliner like that where it goes into those triangles at the outer edge of her eye. She does it all the time, and it is so unflattering. It's makes her face look off. Also, it might just be me, but I can't stand when people get a piercing above the corner of the mouth. And it certainly does nothing for Miss Winehouse. But yeah, she needs to gain 10, 15 pounds and she'd look so much better.
It's kinda strange when you watch her live performances, because she looks so uncomfortable, but if you just listen to the audio she sounds great. Usually that awkwardness comes out in the voice quallity too but with her it doesn't. I don't think she likes performing very much. Even in her music videos, she looks very stiff and self-concious.

She really does look uncomfortable (and loaded) when she's performing. Which...she kind of has to get over, because that's a pretty important part of being a musician. Very occasionally, she smiled, and she was stunning. She has got to learn to relax. She's got so much potential, so much talent, and it's a shame that it's being hidden under a sullen, twitchy persona (which she could probably get away with if she was rocking out in performance, or doing a psycho Courtney Love rock star thing, but she isn't). I don't think PJ Harvey, for example, is a great dresser or a great interview, but she's fucking amazing when she's performing live, even though she hardly says a word in between songs.

I wouldn't mind the hair if it was an occasional thing, but she wears it like that all the fucking time. And the dress wouldn't have been terrible if it had had straps and didn't look like it was about to fall down, and if she hadn't been fiddling with the hem the whole time.

Please never wear this dress again, Amy. Obviously she was uncomfortable with it on. The shoutout at the end for Paul Weller was funny. Either he was surprised or was glad it was over. The look was funny.

It seems to me that with the overkill makeup, nails, tattoos, hair, the weird performances --- she is hiding something. Herself. True personality. Seems really uncomfortable in her skin.

I thought her performance at the Brits, (yes, we even get them here) was fantastic. How amazing was that stage set with the giant arrows? (OT, but there was also the most gloriously camp guy hosting. Hilarious)
I agree with someone upthread saying she makes X-tina and her 'themes' look ridiculous. There's something authentic about Amy I like.
I don't know much else about her, except Popbitch referred to her and Kelly Osborne as the gruesome twosome, which sounds about right to me.

Er, is winehouse her real name? It just seems too appropriate.

She was brilliant on the Brits! I love her voice, it sounds very similar to someone. Whom? I can't figure out but maybe Pink?
