It says on his wiki page that he died of liver cancer. Wiki isn't that accurate though so I'm hoping this is not the case. My best friend died two summers ago from liver cancer and it still bothers me what she went through due to the ascites and other complications. I really hope David didn't suffer. I'm so saddened by his passing. It really is an end of an era.

Amazing he could create this knowing it would be his last album. My favorite songs that I have on rotation are Lazarus, Girl loves me, and I can't give away everything. |

Yes, it is the end of an era. It is sad that there is no up-and-comer to replace him. Lady Gaga is but a pale, pale, imitation of a shadow.

I made it through the first chorus of Absolute Beginners. I used to listen to the 45 in my brother's room. My brother left us in 2008 and now Bowie's gone, too.

Apparently David will have his first #1 album this week, and yesterday saw 2.5 million people streaming his catalog. Not bad for a 69 year old man (though to me he was truly ageless).

The family are just saying cancer, but a guy he was working with on the Lazarus play is saying that it was liver cancer. Which is too bad, since it seems the family didn't want to be that specific.

It's a friend of his who identified it as liver cancer, but the 6 heart attacks thing came from an extremely shady celebrity biographer named Wendy Leigh so I wouldn't take that one to the bank. |

Every day since he passed starts off with me feeling sad in the morning. It's usually the first thing I see when I come online and the reminder is off-putting. He was such an extraordinary person and managed to have a private life without it being too exposed like the "celebs" of today.
Watching Labyrinth this week and it just isn't the same knowing that he's gone. I just love how he was able to write the music for a film and each one of them was unique and magical. Brilliant.
