I still have a soft spot for this band and can even forgive their cutesy 1980s image. Who else likes 'em?

Weren't they the first all-girl band to hit no. 1? I love them; they were the SHIT when I was...um...the age I was when they were really big.

I used to like them... I've never had a love for them. However, I found it hysterical that they were basically the Motley Crue of the bubblegum pop, sect. Who knew, they were sleeping around, raving alcoholics, and pill poppers? Good times, good times.

Well, they did come out of the glam rock sensibility. Some of the members even used to hang around Rodney Bingernheimer's English Disco in the mid 1970s. (I think it was Jane Weidlin who was interviewed for the Rodney doc The King of Sunset Strip.)

They were the first all-girl band to hit no. 1 on the album charts with Beauty and the Beat.
The Bangles were the first all-girl band to hit no. 1 on the singles chart.

LOVE 'EM! I've been a huge fan since '81 - I got Beauty and the Beat for my birthday that year. Back then, my Mom used to think I looked like Jane Weidlin.

I loved them, too! They were hugely popular in my freshman year of high school and were one of the first concerts I'd ever gone to. They opened for the Police (I can't remember if I saw the Go-Go's and Police, or Bow Wow Wow and the Police first - yes, I was a Sting fan back then).
I do remember hearing years later of a videotape of them stoned out of their minds at some party. Isn't Belinda Carlisle supposed to be a huge snob and generally not a nice person?

That was great, where Belinda Carlisle did her Public Service Speech on the benefits of masturbation, complete with male groupies demonstrating for the viewing public.
So Very Drunk, were they.
