Yeah, I really understand how A League of their Own was so overlooked, especially Hanks, but also Best Song for either Madonna or Carole King, Best Costume Design and Best Art Direction. Honestly, that movie is one of my favs. When it's the montage of them playing all the games and living their lives on the road etc, I bawl like a baby every time. The music really gets me.

I think he should have also gotten a supporting actor award for his drunken baseball coach in A League of Their Own. Shame he wasn't. He was AWESOME in that movie, but then I'm a big Hanks fan.

This film is, i know "I need a good cathartic cry" go to, that moment with the telegram and I'm gone, music/montages etc be damned, the telegram moment does me in every time. I did for a time dislike Tom or maybe suffer from too much Tom, no idea why over exposure too many noms etc sorta thing ...but he has become the most watchable guy and seems just such a decent lovely bloke, while not exactly crushing on him I live in fear when I see him top this board something urgh has happened rather than good. I think after years of Tom Hanks, meh, I'm in camp I bloody love him now!!

He gets mad love in my house. My favorite purchase of 2017 is my "Bosom Buddies" dvd collection. Best $15 bucks I've spent in awhile. Brings back happy childhood memories. I was not surprised when Tom hit it Big. He's been making me smile for almost forty years.

“There’s no crying in baseball!” One of my all-time favorite movie quotes. I was actually surprised, looking it up, that he only has 5 Oscar noms. It feels like he's been in the conversation so many times I thought he had at least 8 or 9.

We bought his book today, a collection of short stories. After reading the first one, my reaction is: Actor! Producer! Writer! All this AND Rita Wilson?!? Screw that guy! Did he front-load the book with one good story or are the rest worth reading too? I've been reading a lot of short stories lately so this has piqued my interest. What are they like? Funny? Serious? Are they all about men? (I don't go for stories that are all about men, men stuff, becoming a man, or what it means to be a man. That's including but not limited to: seafaring stories, cowboy stories, stories set in the foxholes of World War I or II, and stories about world-weary alcoholics.)

I have read 2 so far (I am reading like 5 books at once, which is weird for me).
The first is about two longtime friends hooking up, the second is about a WWII vet on Christmas Eve 10 years after being sent home, sorta half Saving Private Ryan, half A Christmas Story.
I have enjoyed both. It is nice to see his typewriter fetish isn't just about the gear!

One of those "have to stop and watch if it comes on TV" movies no matter how many times I've seen it. Geena Davis deserved something for her performance too and their relationship was so beautifully done. Never inappropriate, but clearly something above what he had with the rest of the players. But Tom Hanks was just perfect in this. So many quotable lines and so many favorite scenes, I never get tired of this movie.

The movie I lose it in every time is "Philadelphia". I start crying about half way through and welp, that's the end of it.

When his brother breaks down saying goodbye to him in the hospital I commence crying and don't stop until the end. Also, LOVE Joanne Woodward in this film.
