RIP. I loved his outspokenness, and I watch Gosford Park whenever I need a wonderfully -crafted and -acted film to distract me from work.

His version of M*A*S*H is the reason I never liked the television show. You couldn't top what he did.
Nashville, The Player and Gosford Park are classics as well.
I'm glad the Academy got around to finally giving him the recognition he deserved in March.

Yeah, but I hate that "oh, sorry we ignored you all those times you should've won. Here's an honorary Oscar instead - enjoy."
Because Ron Howard for A Beautiful Mind over Altman for Gosford Park. Seriously? Sorry Altman refused to support the Iraqi war, Academy, but hey, look who seems right now?

Yeah, but I hate that "oh, sorry we ignored you all those times you should've won. Here's an honorary Oscar instead." True, but at least he received one. John Cassavetes didn't and rightfully deserved one.

This sucks. I loved his work. At least he lived and long and full life.

And Michael Richards sends a silent "thank you" heavenward.

Oh man. I thought he had at least two more great films in him. Such a loss to the world of filmmaking.
He is one of my all-time favorite directors. For McCabe and Mrs. Miller ALONE, he would deserve to be named among the great directors but he gave us so much more.

Ah crap. LOVED this guy. One of the few actor's directers out there and from what I have heard, a nice human being.

I feel kinda bad for him that for his last movie he had to work with the Brat That Is LiLo... hopefully Streep and Tomlin canceled her out.

I'm haven't seen very many of his films, but I loved The Company. I'm glad he got a lifetime achievement Oscar before his death.
