I think her GG comments are completely accurate. Considering that the whole point of the show is so the viewers can live vicariously through and enjoy the outrageous behaviour and fashions of its characters, to posit it as some kind Thackerayan moral skewering of the moneyed classes is moot. Yeah, but Blair & Serena's friendship is actually the emotional center of Gossip Girl. When the girls are feuding, this is typically portrayed as a very negative thing. Gossip Girl is outrageous, sure, but at its core, friendship and family are good and positive things and meanness is petty and bad. If you look at the show's surface, sure, there is cattiness and backstabbing, but these things have also been part of every primetime soap that has ever existed, including Ugly Betty. I mean, I certainly think there could be an argument over the themes of Ugly Betty vs. the themes of Gossip Girl and which show portrays women's relationships in a more positive way, etc. But honestly, they are both the same thing on the surface - glossy soaps where people do outrageous and often mean things. So, I think it'a silly for America to call out Gossip Girl when a casual viewer would think that her own show glamourizes bad behavior, as well. I'm sure if someone said that Ugly Betty conditioned bad behavior, America would say something like, "Well, if you actually watch the show, you'll see that that's not really the point..." Same goes for Gossip Girl, you know? It's just sort of a shortsighted thing for her to say, as someone else starring on a primetime soap!

Meh. I believe based on everything I've heard about her she was being bitchy and trying to fuel the feud rumours.

Is it me, or does she look skinnier than usual? She looks fab though. (Yuck. The pudgy middle aged guy behind her is totally checking out her ass.)

She's lost some weight over the last couple years, but she's looked that way for a while.
The dress is okay - the black bits seem random. But she looks great - good hair and makeup.

For some reason, I get the "she's jus jellus" vibe from those comments. Sure, she's a beautiful girl, but Blake is that crazily leggy blonde who just got a Vogue cover. I don't buy America's sparkles and sunshine persona at all. Which, if she isn't really like that, would make her way more interesting to me. She made those comments months before Blake got the VOGUE cover. At the time she made the comments, Blake was ganering attention but not as much as Blake has been receiving over the last few months.
