This place needs an America Ferrera thread, and since I haven't seen one, I chose to start one. She's great in Real Women Have Curves and The Sisterhood of the traveling Pants, but her best work is as the title character in Ugly Betty, which just earned her a Golden Globe for Best TV Comedic Actress, leading to one of the sweetest acceptance speeches ever.
Chat all about America here.

I love her. She is so gorgeous to me and the fact that she sticks out a bit in the whole Hollywood scene because she's not a stick-thin blonde being styled by Rachel Zoe.
I went to see Sisterhood specifically becuase of her and I'm so happy that she's broken out and become successful.
She also just seems like a nice person. Very down to earth and humble. There's no sense of entitlement. When the show won the Golden Globe (and then when she won her own) she did seem actually shocked.

I thought she looked beautiful last night, and her dress fit her to perfection. Can't believe she is the same person who was in RWHC!
I was very glad she won.

She was gorgeous last night. I felt bad for her when that stupid interviewer accosted her while she was leaving the stage and asked her horrid questions. What a twit!
I was so excited that two women with real curves won. Yay America. Yay Jennifer. Oh, and Meryl, make that three women. So three non-stick-figures won awards for being terrific, not for being anorexic scary sticks.

She looked great last night. I think she did a good job in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, she really fit in with the Carmen I had envisioned from the books.
I wanted to like Ugly Betty but it was just too Soap Opera-esque for my tastes. Even though I don't like the show I'm still thrilled that it's doing well because I like her so much, if that makes any sense.

It is soap-opera-esque, but the supporting cast is so terrific and SO funny that it's worth some groaning at the plots. I love Justin and Mark and Amanda and Wilhelmina, and of course, HENRY.

I loved her in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants- the scene where she calls her dad to tell him that she is angry with him is just heartbreaking. It's about 3:15 in here. Does anyone know exactly what Maria what's-her-face said to America that was insulting? I caught the end of the interview where she askes America if she forgot anyone that she would like to thank and America just looked kinda sheepish and said no.

I love America, even though I'm not of fan of either Ugly Betty or The Sisterhood. She is simply adoreable. And a good actor too boot. Is Real Woman Have Curves worth checking out?

Aw, she looked stunning last night. Loved the colour of her dress, loved the fit, loved the earings, loved the hair. Just fabulous. Her acceptance speech was adorable. She managed to freak out and be weepy whilst still giving a pretty darn good articulate little acceptance speech. I've never seen Ugly Betty, but after she won that award I went and downloaded it. Heh.

Okay, I'm going to give Ugly Betty another chance. I watched the first episode and I just didn't like it. Everything was so exaggerated and unbelievable, it got on my nerves. But after seeing how awesome America is, and remembering my love for RWHC, and considering I hear so many people raving about it, I have to give it another try.
