I'm trying to understand the installation - did he tell people that they could do anything with him they wanted? If so, he can't complain if they go overboard. You can't tell people they have the freedom to do stuff and then get mad when they do it.

Jumping on a bandwagon, and he's obviously craving attention, and possibly mentally ill. With rape, aside from the stranger abduction assault type, the issue is consent. Agreeing to dinner is not consent to sexual activity. Going to someone's apartment or hotel room is not consent. I would suggest that putting a bag over your head and announcing "Do anything you want" is implicit consent. If he didn't like what was going on, he had all the power to stop it.

The whole story doesn't ring true. Maybe he was violated. The woman apparently crossed a line, but he gave strangers permission to do anything to him. And why are we only hearing about it now. Paraphrasing, but "other people in line saw the woman looking disheveled afterwards", and "word spread down the line of people waiting to get in"? Really? And no one has come forward that they witnessed Shia being assaulted? The woman's boyfriend didn't say anything or try to stop her? Was the room see-thru and everyone saw what she was doing to him, including Shia's girlfriend and didn't say or do anything? It's a little too boy who cried wolf for me. It's unfortunate that his mental issues put him in that position to be taken advantage of, but I don't know how grieved he was by the experience. I don't know his pain, but to talk about it now, and in such an off-hand manner, seems so random. Has he discussed pursuing legal action? There was apparently plenty of witnesses. I just don't get it. This is what I was trying to say, but you said it much better. Like a male friend said, "Good thing for him no one who came through the line wanted to kill him."

She's sporting around a black eye from what I've read. And he has a bandaged hand.

That picture of he and his mom at the end of that article is surreal. He's dressed in a tank, violet cutoffs, socks, and sports flip flops. She's dressed like she could be transported to a church sermon and/or seance in the Wild West at any minute.

Who hates themselves that much to not only watch all of his movies, but to do it with him?
