9 lbs?! I saw a photo of Emma last week. She must have been all baby.
Aww...Bruce is a daddy again. Congrats to the Willises!

Yeah, 9 lbs is a big baby, but it has nothing to do with the ease of the labour or birth.
Ugh, Mabel? I understand wanting a traditional name, but there are thousands that don’t conjure up the image of an old biddy. I mean, why not the afore-mentioned Patty? I always blamed Bruce and Demi for starting the kooky celebrity baby name craze; now we know it was mostly Demi’s doing. No surprise; I’m sure she figured – and rightly so – that it would get them (her) even more publicity.

I always associate the name "Mabel" with Mad About You.

I always associate the name "Mabel" with Mad About You. Which is amusing, because (and I can't believe I remember this) who was the special guest star in the episode Mabel Buckman was born? Mr. Bruce Willis.

Mabel sounds like a gum-cracking floozy barmaid.

Mabel Ray Willis sounds like an old, southern factory worker with a bleached beehive, and cat glasses.

Aw, I love the name Mabel. I think it's darling. Besides, I don't care for the whole argument that you can't give babies "old person" names. Everyone gets old at some point, and their names go with them. This little generation of Mabels and Walters won't associate their own names with old people.

Perhaps because I am old (old enough to have worn cat-eye glasses back in the day!), Mabel reminds me of the soprano lead in "Pirates of Penzance," played by Linda Ronstadt at approximately the same time I was graduating from cat-eyes to Gloria Steinem aviator glasses. Anyway, congrats to the new parents!

At least it's a name and not a fruit.

Mabel has a special meaning for me. It's the name my mother calls me when she can't remember my real name. It's how I sign all my cards to her. I still think it's a ugly name (no offense) but at least it makes me smile now when I hear it.
