Maybe by virtue of being governor- he actually was more in touch with what people’s challenges are. I can’t imagine that Sylvester Stallone has any real insight into everyday people’s lives or struggles (even though he WAS Rocky). He also married a Kennedy so, I'm sure there was plenty of liberal influence over the years. The story has been reported as Bruce being booted from the store for "refusing" to wear a mask. He didn't directly address the refusal piece, but given how outspoken his family has been about mask wearing I am more likely to give him the benefit of the doubt that it was indeed an error in judgment and not belligerent anti-mask behavior. Still questionable though, since he had a scarf around his neck that he could have used, but instead he apparently just gave the employee who asked him to put it on a "disgruntled" look and left the store.

I also think it comes down to intelligence. I'm no fan of any of these people (not for any personal reason, their movies are just not in my wheelhouse), but in general my impression always was that Arnold was by far the most intelligent in that group.

So if I can add some inside poop ... I was in Santa Monica a few weeks prior to this incident, and I saw Bruce Willis in a donut shop & he was not wearing a mask there either. I think I was so surprised at seeing a big celebrity in this random strip mall donut place that I didn't even realize until afterward, the reason I recognized him was that he wasn't wearing a mask! I guess my point is, it seems to be a pattern of behavior rather than a momentary brain fart.

Bruce Willis has been diagnosed with aphasia and is retiring from acting. That's so challenging--I hope he and his family have great support systems in place. (No doubt they do, being multi-millionaires and all, but it's still a tough diagnosis.)

He has been in some classic movies and some stinkers. I had a massive crush on him during Moonlighting. He was so charming and hot on that show. Have heard some not so great things about how he has treated people along the way, though. Interesting that the statement was signed by his current wife and his ex-wife (along with all of his daughters). I guess it makes sense because they have remained close friends and it seems to work for them to be one happy family. Any condition that causes a cognitive decline is really tough to deal with so I wish them all well going into this.

I know there have been rumors of him having cognitive issues for a while but I had hoped they were fake. I hope he has a great supper system and a god medical team. It seems like he does.

Have heard some not so great things about how he has treated people along the way, though. At one point, I watched Kevin Smith's extended monologue on how terrible it was working with Bruce Willis, but I no longer remember the exact details. My impression was that Bruce Willis is a corporation, and when he shows up to punch the clock on the set of a Bruce Willis movie, he expects to have authority over the other actors, the script, and the direction. And on the rare occasion when Bruce was out of his trailer and willing to talk, all of his input was both really bad and non-negotiable. Kevin Smith is quoted as saying that it all comes down to that Bruce hates making movies.

What do they mean he has aphasia? Aphasia isn't generally a condition all on its own, but is typically the result of some other condition, so we are not getting the whole story.
Aphasia is caused by damage to the brain. What caused Bruce's aphasia is what I'm wondering. Did he have a head injury? A stroke? A tumor? A degenerative disorder?
There are also three types of aphasia: expressive (Broca's Aphasia), comprehensive (Wernicke's aphasia) and Global Aphasia, which is usually the result of significant brain damage.
Regardless of what's causing the aphasia, it sucks, and if it is progressive then it's likely that it will develop into dementia.

TCM released a podcast on the making of the Bonfire of the Vanities film called The Devil's Candy that was so interesting. There is sooooo much insider gossip, and the journalist who wrote the book the podcast is based on has some stories about Willis, including some recorded interviews with him. (Another bit of trivia from the podcast is that a very young Uma Thurman tested for the role that went to Melanie Griffith, director Brian De Palma really wanted to hire her, but Tom Hanks was super uncomfortable with the idea of having a 19-20 year old play his mistress)

There have been blind items/rumors for a few years that he may a type of dementia and I know certain types of dementia can have aphasia as a symptom. I’m guessing they don’t want to (understandably) release his full diagnosis so are being vague.
