I do like "Misery", but I can't believe Adam Levine cast his girlfriend in a video yet again!

I'll cut him some slack -- I love this song!
ETA: Has anyone heard Call and Response, the M5 album of remixes? What did you think?

That chick is too skinny to be believable in the video. I was expecting her to just snap in two at some point.

I was a big (albeit guilty) fan of the first album, but god, all he writes about is being sexually tormented by damaged women. Something about the first album was compelling in that it seemed like this ONE woman has a destructive, irresistible pull on him. Now that these songs have (ostensibly) been written about multiple girlfriends, it is sounding kinda pitiful. Heh.
Also, it's interesting that this video, and Pink's "Please Don't Leave Me," have so much partner violence mixed in with sexual passion, but because they are tongue-in-cheek (and maybe because they are perpetrated by the women?) it seems funny and empowering. But the Eminem video, which actually takes domestic violence seriously, stirred up some criticism for "glorifying" it.
I'm not trying to take a stance, since I don't have any problem with all three videos and I know two of them were meant to be humorous, but I do think it's arguably a double standard, and an interesting one.

I was all about Maroon 5's first album (and their second to a lesser extent). Adam Levine seems like such a dipshit. His songwriting process: He dates some model (I believe that's his MO), they break up, and he writes a song about what a manipulative bitch she it. Cute. Another factor to consider about the partner violence in the videos is personal history. Eminem has been (are they still together?) infamously in a violent and toxic relationship. People might be concerned that he is presenting violence as a normal part of a relationship. I've never heard of Adam Levine being violent. My impression (based on no fact) is that Pink and Carey can be physical with each other but not particularly violent (more rough housing than anything).

I cackled out loud at your first paragraph, peachybean. Also, your point about personal histories is a viable one. Either way, I didn't find four minutes of him getting beaten up by a model as charming as he seems to believe I would.

I'm bad a keeping up with post-90s music [/old fogey] - this is the extent of my Maroon 5 knowledge:
1. Adam Levine and I were born on the same day. 2. He seems sort of irresistable and completely douchey at the same time. 3. Their songs are quite catchy. Damn.

Therein lies the problem. Levine is a d-bag, but the songs are so freakin' catchy they're like ear crack. From what I understand the rest of the band is really nice if that counts at all. They did some talking head stuff for one of the VH1 I Love (whatever decade) and they seem to be on the geeky side of the personality spectrum.
