Well Drew is bringing back her daytime talk show without her WGA writers. The WGA have announced they’ll picket the show as it is a struck show. Really curious who will cross the picket line and appear on her show. Not a good look for Drew.

I genuinely cannot figure out why she would do this. This is a very very bad idea and makes me lose loads of respect for her.
eta: it looks like she is getting raked over the coals on social media... so... good.

And Drew backed out of hosting the VMAs (or MTV movie awards, I can't remember) because of the writers' strike, so she was supportive at one point. I love Drew and I don't understand this move and I hope it doesn't backfire on her.
That said, there have been quite a few celebrities promoting their films at the Venice Film Festival in the last couple of weeks. They claim to have exemptions from SAG/AFTRA but it still feels like they are having their cake and eating it too. There are several movies that have gotten exemptions to film also.

She's been "disinvited" from hosting the National Book awards. Good. In the words of Nelson: haha link

I can't see how she thought this would be a good decision. I haven't followed Drew very closely in recent years, but have been a little surprised that when I saw she had branded houseware stuff at WalMart and, more recently, her own magazine in the checkout lane at the grocery store. I know we all contain multitudes, but it's seeming pretty obvious that behind the dominant hippy-dippy, flower child persona Drew presents, there seems to be an equally aggressive empire-building shark competing for dominance. I don't think it was smart to let #2 cancel out #1.
Also: I've had enough of celebrity "brands."

Live with Kelly and The View are both back in production. What’s the difference? This is an honest question. I don’t follow this stuff that closely.

To add to cancan's comment: Drew's show has 3 WGA writers who were not told the show was coming back. They found out via social media. So the show continues without it's union writers. The 3 writers are now picketing outside her show. Drew is now officially crossing a picket line, thus- she is a scab.

Also, is she supporting the actors in the co-current SAG/AFTRA strike?
