I've always had a soft spot for him, ever since I saw him in "Little Women" and started following his work; this latest incident is a big reason why. I know he is a complex individual and apparently has some anger management issues, but he is not a phony. This is a guy who got roughed up trying to visit a blind Chinese dissident; he is a true believer with the courage of his convictions. The Terminator Salvation outburst was horrible and he deserved to be held accountable for it, but all signs point to Bale going through a particularly difficult time emotionally when it happened. The drama with his family took place around the same time. But there have been no such incidents reported since, and I do think he is basically a decent person. Yeah, I agree. I think he's an moody and intense person, but he's doesn't come off as arrogant and a bully. The outburst probably had been building and was probably unconnected to the poor plebe that bared the brunt of it. I was thinking about Russell Crow the other day and about his long string of assholish behavior, that culminated with him hitting a hotel clerk with a phone. CB gets major props for going to CO and comforting the people involved in the shooting. Very classy.

I have not paid him too much notice- I think he is a fine actor, and have enjoyed him- but, he is HOT in those pictures. Also, it is very kind that he is taking his time to reach out.

That was really awesome of Bale to visit one of the victims. One of the local papers noted he spent around 10 mins with each of the victims, which I thought was nice as hell. A friend of mine posted one of the pics and I said, " He looks miserable. 'The WB didn't make me come at all.'" Because I generally think of him as a douche. (Even though I like him as an actor.) Her sister pointed out, "Like anyone could make Bale do something he didn't want to. I'm sure they would have liked to see the rest of the cast, too. Hell, if I got shot, I'd sure as hell want to hear from the voice of God." Touche. Not sure if that's what you meant, but I wouldn't expect him to look happy/glad to be there due to the circumstances.

I think bicta meant in the particular pic he seemed to be there basically under duress. After reading an account from on the hospital employees, I think it was probably nerves. Reddit I collapsed the comments, not sure how it's easiest to read it (I'm not terribly familiar with Reddit). But it wasn't all solemn, the Swedish Medical Center posted a bunch of pics. I particularly liked the one with the lady who's got a double grip on his hand. Just made me smile. Swedish Medical Center Facebook

I think bicta meant in the particular pic he seemed to be there basically under duress. Pretty much. In the one pic I saw of him with a kid that actually got shot, the kid was all smiles and Bale looked constipated. Fake a smile for the kid, dude. I didn't expect Bale to look happy in any of the other pictures, but when you're with a fan that's ecstatic to see you, a small smile would've been nice, considering that kid will probably enjoy that picture for the rest of his life.

I thought visiting was a nice and kind thing of him to do. He generally doesn't seem all that comfortable in public appearances, then add to that the severity of the occasion and that probably translates to him being awkward occasionally and not quite knowing how to behave. So I give him the benefit of the doubt here.
Which is totally separate from other instances where he behaved like a jerk. Though I credit him for the fact that he apologized and owned up for chewing out that DP once it became clear the studio etc. were ready to make that poor man the fall guy and potentially sabotage his career to create excuses for Bale. I haven't heard Crowe, Penn etc. actually taking responsibility for their actions like that (though I might be wrong about that...).

What a wonderful gesture on the part of CB and his family. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to have so many requests for one's time and energy, but kudos to him for making the little guy's dream come true.

Aww, that is so sweet. Pretty cool that he took them to Club 33 too! I think there is like a 15-year waiting list for that place. Anyway, I'm glad the little boy is in remission now and I hope everything goes well for him in the future.

Maybe it's because of the kindness he's shown lately, but he's looking really handsome right now.
