Oh, thank the sweet Lord, the Scientology thread lives! We've got to keep the word on it out there. I am still having nightmares about all the shit I read on "Scieno" last month on that other board. So, so frightening. Especially since, after explaining to my mother how big a Scientology freak Tom Cruise is and just how scary the Church of Scientology can get, (she didn't know either one of these things) she told me that a member of my own family got sucked in the cult in the late 1970s and never resurfaced. I was shocked. I thought my family stuck to joining socially acceptable cults, like a more, ahem, involving, branch of the Baptist church in Missouri. We don't even have any Mormons, and somehow the Co$ got one of us?! Disillusioning, this news.

Tiny Tom and the Clams Take Over Hollywood One Studio at a TimeFrom the NY Times (free registration required). The following is interesting and something I hadn't heard about before: No wonder these clowns get preferential treatment and are heavily recruited - they are a means to an end. Nothing like using and manipulating celebrities to get what you want!!

That is pretty much the name of the Co$ game in my judgment, Brookie. On that note, this thread simply would not be complete without this link. Essential reading on the Clams. Warning: frightening and somewhat engrossing content. Arguably not work-safe for this reason.

Thanks for the link, Smilla. This thread wouldn't be complete without access to the "Operation Clambake" site. (I love the "Baloney Detection Kit" section on there!!!)

Good to see one of my favorite threads is back!
Not sure if anyone saw this story about our favorite Scieno, Tom Cruise-
He used to keep his Scieno stuff pretty private. I wonder how much longer he can keep behaving this way until it backfires on him.

While he remains at the top of the tree in Hollywood I don't think $cientology will create too many problems for Cruise.
Journalists are put in a position where they want an interview with him so badly they'll willingly put up with a few hours of religious blather to get it, and then end up writing puff pieces about him. Whether they want to or not. The recent Rolling Stone article about him was a prime example of this, stuck between trying to be insightful while bending over backwards trying not to offend.
Once his star power wanes the backlash will begin apace.

Well, Tiny Tommy the Turd's sister is now managing him and she's a $cieno too. So I'd imagine she's advising him to push, push, push.

Alright, I realize this is only marginally on topic, but this site was linked in the other thread so I had to stick it in here. Note the parallels between Scientology...and the church discussed in that link. Frightening, no? Okay, I swear, this post does serve a purpose: in the event anyone reading these posts ever comes in contact with a member of the Co$, or, you know, any other cults, I think the site at the end of my link and Operation Clambake both have good suggestions for what not to say to a cult victim who may or may not be looking for a way out of her current life circumstances. Just in case anyone ever needs those resources.
