Good for her! In that interview she did in 2014 that is mentioned in above the article, she sounded incoherent and fully brainwashed, so she's a surprising exit.
And she's brave to openly declare that she's no longer involved with it. When celebrities leave, they often seem scared to even confirm it.

Good on her! I think she got involved when she was dating a Masterson. Happy for her and her kids that she’s out.

Good for her! I’m glad she got out. I’m also glad to hear Ben Foster is not a Scientologist. When they got married, I figured they had roped him in and was sad to hear it.
ETA: She mentions distancing herself after being a new mom. I wonder if she saw it for why it was and didn’t want to raise her children in it or if she had postpartum issues. I believe from the Tom Cruise/Brooke Shields situation, that Scientology looks down on that.

Elisabeth Moss on Scientology:
I mean, that's true: they're welcoming. Then once you're in, you're not allowed out.

Exactly.
Nope, not misunderstood -- we know they suck you in with their 'kindness' and then you're screwed.

I will forever be baffled that Elisabeth Moss, a Scientologist, is involved in a television series in which an autocratic regime controls people to a frightening degree ( The Handmaiden’s Tale). How has she not connected the dots yet? Also, I’m really glad that she didn’t convert Fred Armisen. Nancy Cartwright (voice of Bart Simpson) was in the episode in which the Simpsons join a cult (the Movementarians in ”The Joy of Sect” in Season 9, Episode 13), and I’m surprised she wasn’t pressured to not be involved. Isaac Hayes (voice of Chef) did leave* after South Park had their episode explicitly critiquing Scientology ( "Trapped in the Closet" in Season 9, Episode 12). I’ll forever admire creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone for calling out Hayes’ hypocrisy when he was willing to cash checks when other people‘s beliefs systems were mocked, but not when his belief system was mocked. “Hail Xenu!” * “In 2016, Hayes's son Isaac Hayes III confirmed rumors that the statement [in which Hayes “asked for him to be released from his contract shortly before the start of the tenth season”] was written by a Scientologist assistant without the knowledge of his father, who had not recovered from a stroke.” (Wikipedia)

What? Who's running the Sea Org? You can't leave a billion-year contract!
