I'm super late to this, but I just started watching the Netflix documentary last night and, wow, what an evil, shitty family. Mind you, I'm not even through the entire boating disaster and I'm already chilled by these people.

I know, right? Even if he's paying way over the odds, and took years to work up to that dose, he still wouldn't be paying that much every month for years on end. And no one noticed? I don't think so.
There are some rumours that Alex was involved in drug running, not just using, and that was what the air strip at Moselle was for. But you get into drug running to make money, not to throw money into a black hole. How could he have stolen so much money and have nothing to show for it? Gambling? Blackmail?

I'm still completely puzzled how Alex arrived at the plan of killing Maggie and Paul and what he thought that was going to fix. The friends of Mallory Beach were the saddest part, there were so many moments where they could've made one different choice that could have averted the boat crash. That's got to be hard to live with. Of course the crash is 100% Paul's fault, but hearing them talk about how other people offered them rides, how they considered Ubering home, etc, I know for me, it would haunt me to recall that knowing how things turned out. And the way Alex came in and tried to pretend to be legally representing the kids while they were in the hospital was chilling.

My question: where is the money? There aren't enough drugs in the world to spend all that money on for one guy. I wouldn't be surprised if he does have a pill problem but not that much of a pill problem. I think all that money went to a blackmailer. Lord knows this family was badly behaved enough to have blackmail material.

I wouldn't be surprised if he does have a pill problem but not that much of a pill problem. I listen to the Pretty Lies & Alibis podcast and on her Patreon she said she's heard that they have located a large part of the money, and she thinks it may come out more during the financial trials. Randy Murdaugh speaks. It sounds like he might be distancing himself from his family, but I'm very suspicious of any Murdaugh. He could be suspicious of Alex but also trying to save face for his law firm. Both could be true. However, I keep going back to Randy Murdaugh calling Stephen Smith's mother, Sandy, almost immediately after Stephen was murdered to offer his services. There are also rumors Randy may have been on the scene. Anyone going to follow the Lori Vallow trial?

Wikipedia History Article Wow, what a case! Hadn't heard about this Vallow case. Someone must be making the documentary / mini-series, with this much drama and intrigue. Murdered by the person you should most trust in all the world. Shameful.

Murdered by the person you should most trust in all the world. Shameful. There is a Netflix documentary about this case called "Sins of our Mother." It's fascinating and highly disturbing. Part of me wishes they had waited until the trial was over to have more of a conclusion.

That series looks interesting. Very complicated set of relationships.
