In some great news, I'm giving a shout-out to Dr. Colleen Fitzpatrick. She's a forensic scientist whose been identifying major John and Jane Doe cases. Her research has revealed the identities of many previously unsolved cases such as "Lori Erica Ruff", "Lyle Stevik", and "Joseph Newton Chandler III".Recently, her genetic research has discovered the identity of "America's Unknown Child" or "The Boy in The Box", a four-year-old who was found in a cardboard box near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1957. His name was Joseph Augustus Zarelli, who was most likely abused, neglected, malnorished, and murdered by his parents. Since his identity is known, his memorial site had his headstone replaced with his full name on what would've been his 70th birthday. I'm glad he can truly rest in peace after decades of not being identified.

I read about the Zarelli case. I have read it was likely he was placed for adoption by his birth mom.

The cases that have really fascinated me recently are the spoiled rich kids who kill their family because they're getting cut off, like Joel Guy Jr. I would think doing what your parents ask and wait for the posthumous money train would be smarter, but maybe I'm not a narcissist or psychopath. Also, I'm too cognizant of how I'd be found out if people around me go missing or very dead. Murder is easier to solve these days.

Watched first episode of Murder in Boston on HBO (Max if you must). I live in Boston area and was in college at the time of the Charles Stuart case and I distinctly remember telling my roommate that I think he did it based on the 911 call. Watching the show, I cannot believe he wasn't suspect number one right from the get go! I have to believe there were some members of the police force that always knew it was him, but the racist furor that engulfed the city probably drowned out any opposing voices.

Being wealthy and white were two reasons I could think of why he wasn't the first suspect. That and anxiety over high crime and "scary black men" were common media narratives that fueled mass incarceration and the continued disenfranchisement of Black Americans. It's fortunate that the raspy-voiced black man didn't go to prison for crimes he didn't commit.

Thanks for the reminder! Yeah, I remember this case, too. He was so shady from second one that it's hard to believe no one suspected him.

There was a dark joke going around after Stuart killed himself (jumped off a bridge), about a new cocktail being served in Boston bars called the Charlie Stuart: a shot, a twist, and a splash.

The Tobin was a fitting end for him

I wasn’t familiar with that case. I just read the wiki. What an all round tragic chain of events.
