I felt bad for both Joan and Peggy. Clearly capable women- and more competent than the men around them. It must have truly sucked to be a professional career woman back then.
More foreshadowing of Sharon Tate.... I wonder if Megan is murdered this season. (Am I a bitch for wanting that?)
California agrees with Pete (so far).
Roger is slowly becoming my favorite character. Hippie orgies. Oh Roger! (and did anyone get a weird vibe from his daughter....)

I thought of Sharon Tate too and also, and the year is 1969.
I liked Neve Campbell's cameo--she mentioned that her late husband was 'thirsty'--code for alcoholism. She then mentioned he was hospitalized and died. Did Don stop drinking? I think he did and I think maybe that visit from Freddie was perhaps Freddie being Don's AA sponsor. That was my interpretation of it.

I've been feeling anxious about Megan's fate since she had that fight with Don at the HoJo and hitchhiked home. Well, the agent did say that Megan is polarizing. Everyone hated her audition, but the show runner loved her. Wink wink. Roger's daughter is probably mixed up in some cult. Her conversation was off-putting.

'Kay, a couple of surprises for me. One--Ken Cosgrove still has that eyepatch? Did he...actually lose his eye last season? On the one hand, I like Pirate Look Ken. On the other hand--yikes.
Peggy has tenants now? Did she buy more apartments? Buy the building?
It's nice that Joan has grown into her job, even if I can't fully buy the transformation. But I did like the moment when the business school guy asked if she had anything to trade and her response was that he should take her money.
I could see Megan going the way of Sharon Tate. Especially if her nervousness and resistance to sex with Don are indications of her own affair(s) and an eventual unplanned pregnancy as a result (something I've been feeling would happen with Megan for some reason.) I wouldn't mind a reveal that she's been making inroads in the business via the casting couch for some time.
I couldn't tell if Don was supposed to be trying sobriety or not in this episode. And please--"I keep wondering if I broke the vessel"? You broke it, dipshit.
I know it's considered an unimaginative and obvious prediction, but I'm now convinced Don is going over that balcony after all.
ETA: ITA that Roger's kid has become some cult's newist victim. She's such an easy target: sorta rich, airheaded, no ambition. I could see it.

How's this for a crass plot twist: Roger's daughter is mixed up with the Manson-esque character that will kill Megan in the mid-season cliffhanger!

I thought Matt Weiner dismissed the whole Megan-as-Sharon-Tate thing last season. Way too sensationalist for this show.
I know he wants to keep working, but I don't get why Don is giving creative ideas to Freddie Rumsen. Does Megan even know he was suspended from work?

He may have. But look how well that worked for the guys over at How I Met Your Mother....

It doesn't seem like Megan knows about don's job. If she's in LA then how would she? That happened to a friend of mine. Her husband got laid off from work but pretended to keep going. She found out 10 weeks later when checks started bouncing. Since the company is still paying Don I doubt it'll go down that way. Maybe she will run into Pete at a Hollywood party and he'll mention it.
They are dropping some pretty big hints about Megan. Read the Tom and Lorenzo recap. Something to do with the sounds in the canyon and Helter Skelter.
So Don and Peggy seem rather lost without each other, don't they? That Avery guy is not impressed with Peggy.
Are we going to see Neve Campbell again? I hope not. She was too much like Sylvia and I do not want to revisit that storyline.

I don't trust anything Matt says about the show. I briefly lived below the actress who plays Megan. All I know is she was working for at least the first 7 episodes.
The one thing about Joan that disappointed me, is she didn't say she was a partner at SCDP when taking the meeting.
Avery is very old school. It doesn't surprise me that he doesn't take Peggy seriously at all.
I also wondered about Ken's patch/eye. It would suck if he has to wear that patch from now on.

ladybug, I thought the same thing about Neve Campbell's character being like Sylvia. I'm really not interested in seeing that again at all. I thought the whole scene with Neve was sort of a waste, actually. It didn't show us anything we don't already know about Don.
Seeing Pete made me giggle, especially when he hugged Don.
