He has been so good this season on Mad Men. I truly hope he's getting the Emmy next year. I thought he deserved it for the episode with Elisabeth Moss, but last night's episode was equal or maybe even better. He's a really gifted actor.

The next season of Breaking Bad will air too late for the eligibility period, so I think Hamm is all but certain to win.

Good to hear that! I listened to his Fresh Air interview yesterday, and wow, Terry Gross asks some personal questions! She asked him about his family history and I felt for the poor man. "At 10 years old, did you understand what death was?" Jeez! Not only was it sad as hell, but he was asked to discuss it on the radio by a total stranger. You could hear the sadness and discomfort in his voice.

I caught him on Fresh Air. He seemed very cool. I just recently found out his girlfriend is Jennifer, who was in "Jessica Stein," one of my favorite movies!

Also, in her interview with Conan O'Brien, she freely admitted to doing pre-interviews before the real interview, so I'm inclined to think Jon Hamm probably wasn't blindsided by the death question (even if it was a tough one).

I have to confess, as a person who lost a parent at a young age, I thought this part of the interview was brilliant. In a way, it was darkly hilarious because when my dad died, lots of well-meaning adults came around with copies of Bambi. Also, he spoke with extreme clarity about the obligation to others to perform sadness when all you want is your parent back. And it made me lurve him more.

What made me love him more was the recent article where he was open and honest about his battle with depression and how anti-depressants helped him. How refreshing is that compared to Tammy's crazy condemnation of similar ideas and meds. Love you, Jon.

I think that's pretty amazing too, ElleCee - there's still somewhat of a cultural/societal taboo about men opening about depression/meds - that sense of they should just buck up and be strong - so it's wonderful that Hamm is so open and honest. His image is that of a pretty butch, masculine guy, so I think that may help some dudes struggling with the same issues be more accepting about turning to outside help.
I want to hang out with him, Paul Rudd and Jennifer so bad. They can invite Tina Fey too.

I thought it was great he talked about depression/meds as well, and in such a clear and precise manner.
Then immediately thought of Elizabeth Moss, the scientologist, and wondered if their interactions could become awkward when they start shooting next season of Mad Men because of their divergent beliefs.
*according to sources, part of the reason Elizabeth's marriage failed is because she was so devout to scientology..... <shudder>
