I was shocked when I heard him speak. I was fully expecting a squeaky chipmunk voice. My niece looooooves this band. I should have taken her to a concert : ( My niece loooooooves them too. But I did take her to a concert. For her birthday. Picked her up, drove to Jones Beach in NY. I still have her thank you card. I had a blast. I am unabashedly a boy band fan, had not really paid much attention to them, but I was really impressed. Not sure what it is about Harry Styles but he does have charisma. I had the most fun watching my niece. I told her the next morning at breakfast that the reason why I took her was because I WAS her years ago, that I totally got her love for them. I'm sad it's over, not for me, but for my niece and for some other friends who are so devoted and now so bummed. Not unexpected. Though I would've thought it would've been a while before it was actually announced.

I'm not shedding any tears. Some up-and-coming contender will replace them in a few months and the cycle will begin anew. Meanwhile, the aging boys will be hitting reality TV and acting auditions or trying for solo music careers.
I don't get the Harry Styles love. The lower part of his face looks like Reese Witherspoon's and his hair always looks greasy. I think he has one of those faces that will age well and look wonderful when he's in his 30s, though. But by then it might be too late for the kind of career he wants.

Louis' maybe baby was apparently born yesterday. The girl's grandma announced it in a random Instagram post or something. Louis is either still awaiting paternity results or is in deep denial because there hasn't been a peep from the One Direction camp. You would think they would confirm or deny ASAP just to shut the fans up, but everything about One Direction behind the scenes is weird.

I agree, really weird that there's not been any confirmation from Louis or management, no commentary from him/his family/band members wishing congrats online (or anywhere). No announcement of the baby's statistics (weight, height), hospital - anything. Just that Briana's grandma posted an Instagram and People magazine took that as 'exclusive' rights to the story and then others repeated it. Maybe they are waiting for paternity testing before confirming/denying and that's why nothing more has been said. I'm not a full on "I need to see receipts!" to believe this, but I think this whole story is just weird and has been handled really strangely from a PR perspective. Louis is a part of a huge boyband; he's not some random d-list singer or something. It just doesn't add up.

Simon Cowell commented on the baby's birth at the X-Factor rehearsals. Louis' father also commented on Twitter.

Louis did confirm it on either the Today show or GMA (can't remember which), but their PR is generally not very proactive. Or he was taking an 'if I ignore it it'll just go away' approach. Good luck to the kid though, can't imagine being born into that level of Internet crazy.

I've always liked the name Sydney. I'll excuse Rain because it lacks a you-neek spelling and because the mother couldn't help it. It's a requirement that 1 out of 5 babies born today has to have Rain/Raynn/Rayne/Rainn in there somewhere, so she didn't really have a choice.

It sounds like a girl's name. I'm inherently against women getting big bucks because they bust out a baby. I know it takes 2 to tango, and Louis has made a lot of money, but to me, demanding $50,000/mo is like lottery extortion.

But that's pretty much what rich people child support looks like. I'm sure that number will change once (if?!) his career crashes. But he has a kid now. He's on the hook. It does take two to tango. Now they are both facing consequences for their actions.
To put things in pespective: 1D made $130 mil in 2015 alone. He has a net worth of over $200 million. This dude can afford $600,000 yearly for his kid.
