The show is enjoyable again - yay! I just hope it's not too late for S3.
I liked Calvin. And no Hawley! And I loved seeing Steven Weber again; my mom was a big "Wings" fan.

I know, this episode definitely had a season 1 feel to it. I liked the new guy as well, but if Hawley would show up without his shirt on that would be fine as well.

Because I'm watching the new season of Helix, where Weber plays a creepy cult leader, I found myself having a hard time trusting Jefferson.

I was never into Steve Weber so Jefferson did nothing for me. And I feel they wasted a perfectly grand opportunity to snark on the guy about his 'secret' affair with Sally Hemmings... not to mention the now defunct two dollar bill. Also, the whole magic hologram of Jefferson filled with all his knowledge seemed completely silly. It would only work as a plot device if the Apocalypse were more impending. With Moloch gone- the Witnesses are pretty much just spinning their heels (and even acknowledging as much) So they aren't as in need of a handy stash of answers to save the World as they were a couple months ago. (They didn't need Hologram Jefferson- or Katrina back in those early days- so they don't need 'em now)
And beating us over the head with all these 'The Good of the Many out weigh the Few or the One, Blah Blah Vulcan Sacrifice Blah Blah' and 'People are more important than Books!!!' arguments are ridiculous on this show. They spent the first half of this season making dumbass decision after dumbass decision that costed numerous bit player lives trying to redeem freakin' HENRY for Criminy's Sake! Freakin' Henry who not only was the Horseman of War but also is STILL out and about and wreaking havoc. So they've sacrificed countless lives trying to reach this whiny ball of pure evil... for no greater reason than he's the offspring of Katrina and she gets all wibbly thinking about bad things happening to him.
By that logic, yeah, Handy Hologram Jefferson outweighs random sewer workers... even if one of them is conveniently the sibling of a persistent War Correspondent. But War Correspondent is attractive and possibly available for future episodes while Handy Hologram Jefferson is currently contracted to another show and very probably too costly to bring back often. So Sewer Workers are SAVED!! YAY!!!
And yes, YAY because I would like to see Attractive War Correspondent back again. But I had to eye roll and the moralizing of it all- considering how the Cranes have made their decisions in the past all about their Wooby Son Henry- Random Blue Collar folks be damned!! (Quite literally)
Speaking of Number One Wooby Son, oh Katrina had the nerve to be all 'If you harm me...' Pul-Leaze, woman! You're the one who insisted on keeping this monster around! Bleargh!!
All that said, I actually did enjoy the episode overall. I loved the oogies and how Crabbie (heh) worked together to save most of the victims. Also Attractive War Correspondent seems like he may be a handy ally in the future since he has been aware of the ooginess of Sleepy Hollow for some time- and also has a Press Pass to get things done!
And Bad!Irving may or may not be a lost cause. If the Rune thingy has kept the Evil off the Radar thus far- maybe there's some way to get Good!Irving to override Bad!Irving- through Runes- or some other magical means. Of course, he could just be snowing Jenny. He did meet with Henry after all... Unless he's secretly snowing Henry. See, as awful as it is for Irving to be in this sitch (Which is Henry's fault and therefore all KATRINA'S fault)- there are still multiple possibilities. He can be a double agent- and that can go either way. If he manages to be good- then he's an extra strong ally now (and he was already plenty kick ass as a full human) If he turns out all bad- He'll probably still get rid of Henry and Katrina- because they suck. And he could be the new Moloch. ('Cause, yeah, I miss Moloch!) Which would be both kick ass and also a bit sad- Because Good Irving would be missed. But Kick Ass Moloch Replacement would be very welcome!
And besides, if they wibbled all season over Henry's redemption- they better start wibbling over Irving til he gets saved. 'Cause seriously!

I liked the Abbie/Ichabod moments. The creatures freaked me out. Creepy. Hologram Jefferson was meh. I really was hoping for some riff on Sally Hemings and Ichabod's disappointment in Jefferson. But alas...no. What I don't understand is this: If Jefferson had accumulated all these things for the Witnesses, why didn't he tell them what was important and what they needed to take before blowing the place up? And the Henry/Katrina stuff...I hope this was the beginning of the end for them. They are a dead weight on this show. I liked the War Correspondent. He can come back.

I wondered about the very same thing, Witchie! Why couldn't they have grabbed a few books or whatever they could carry in their backpacks? Is it some sort of Indiana Jones thing where they can't cross the great seal or something?
I remember Jefferson saying something to the effect that the creepy guys were a source of power or whatever and if their nest was disturbed then the entire hologram/library thing would be no mas. I don't know how they worked out that whole episode in the writer's room, but it was too much for me to process. I get they needed them for power, but those creepy things also almost killed the very witnesses they build the library for! Couldn't they have gone about this a different way?
Other than that, I liked Crane/Abbie so much more together.

OMG! Bloody amazing! This would have made a brilliant season finale.
I can't believe how much the show has improved in the last few weeks; please let it be renewed!

I am so thankful that this show has finally gotten back on track. Tonight's episode was fantastic! I am very worried for Abbie though, but love that she kept her wits about her.

I know I should have felt some compassion as Henry floated away to the great beyond, but he irritated the fuck out of me once he turned evil. He was obnoxious and I was unmoved by his death and Katrina's tears. Though, I was so happy when she finally got mad and her true colors came out. Lord, she finally seemed interesting.
The fight between Irving and Jenny was great! I was really scared for Jenny. But yay! Trollando lives!
Everything with Abbie & Ichabod was excellent.
I am so glad this show is back to being good again.
