Haven't there been photos of the younger cast members with glasses in hand at the afterparties for the last couple of movies? Still, it's not very smart to take photos with the bottle like that if you're remotely famous, let alone one of the biggest teen stars in UK. You never know if the media will pick up on them, turn it into a huge scandal and even after you have apologized, continue to use you as the "face of underage drinking" whenever a new government report about teenage alcohol abuse comes out.

I feel bad for her for all the hate she gets from HP fans. I'm so sensitive and stuff like that just makes me NOT want to be famous at all. Oh, she absolutely gets the brunt of the loathing. Every outfit she wears is just ripped to shreds and she was even called fat when compared to the girl who played Fleur. [shifty eyes] no, I don't lurk at Potter fansites...why do you ask? I can see her getting stuck with the "Hermione" label for a while - but I thought that I had read somewhere that she wasn't even sure if she wanted to be an actress for the rest of her life and they basically had to talk her into doing the last movie. With how well the movies do plus all the tie-in merchandise that has her face on it, if she signed a decent deal then she should be financially set. She can live off of that for a while and decide whether or not she wants to be an actress while she kicks back a Corona or two. Unless I hear those words coming out of her lips I will not believe she said it. I'm sure such a conversation went something like: HP producer "Emma, here is a truckload of money for a few months work. Emma: "Oh I don't know if I want to be an actress" HP producer: "Ok here is some more money" Emma: "OK!"

Do you mean the "not sure if she wanted to be an actress" bit? I actually think I read that in an issue of Entertainment Weekly before GOF came out (something about how she was really hesitant, but then Newell put them all through an acting workshop and she fell in love with it again). I could be wrong though, but I know that I did read it in an article and not in a gossip column or something like that.

I believe I heard the same thing. It sounds like a PR rep told her to say that. I should have been more clear. I didn't mean I don't believe you, I don't believe she meant those words at all.

Wow. I'm not British, but that sounds like a load of bollocks to me! I understand there's more sensitivity to things like that in England, where social classes are more separate, but...ew. It never ceases to amaze me how batshit crazy some fans can be.

I believe she that after the HP movies are done she's not sure if she'll act again. She also said that it would kill her to see anyone else play Hermione, so I think it's safe to say that she'll be sticking around through movie 7.

It doesn't sound that crazy to me. The way the thing about class is phrased makes it sound kind of snobbish, but the fact is that we're generally more comfortable around people that we have more in common with and tend to gravitate towards those people (birds of a feather, and all that). If you rephrase the opinion so that it says, for instance, that Dan and Emma have had the same sort of upbringing, or something like that, does it still sound like bollocks that they would be closer? I don't think it's necessarily supposed to be a snobby, exclusive club type of thing, just that Dan and Emma have more in common with each other, and therefore relate to each other more easily, than they do with/to Rupert.

It never ceases to amaze me how batshit crazy some fans can be. Well...you aren't British, so that's why you don't understand. But yeah, it is a bigger deal. I studied abroad there, in an area that is more lower class, I guess. I had ALOT of trouble making friends with the British students, and had to stuck with the other exchange students. I asked my advisor there and she said that they regard us as rich and all that. I was far from that. I worked my butt off for a year and took out loans to live there for school. In the end, I made friends that were British and they told me they don't really relate to the exchange students. So yeah...I can see that. It makes sense to me. As titilayo said...it's just more of feeling more comfortable.

I think she's pretty.
When I was in England a couple of summers ago I was friends with a guy who said he took her and a couple of her friends to their prom because they couldn't find a date, or something. He said that she was a bitch, not in the outright sense, but some guy didn't go crazy for her and she said to her friend "I can't believe he doesn't know who I am!" Then again, he didn't know how old she really was ("She's not 14, she told me she was 16!") so who knows. Grain of salt and all.
While she's not the most talented actress out there, she's cute and I don't know if I can imagine anybody else in the role of Hermione (but the same goes for the guys, too). The fact that she drinks makes me more endearing to me, actually.
