I watch the Good Wife and I'm on team Christine Baranski. Maybe this will get me kicked off the boards or maybe off the earth, but I think I'm the only person who hates the Kalinda character. I think she is awful and if I actually go into detail why, I'll be here all night. I dislike her almost as much as Carrie Bradshaw, but that is for another thread. That being said, I like the actress and hope she does well in other things. I do enjoy this public shade throwing and I'm just over here eating my popcorn, taking it in. Always team Baranski, no matter what is going on. Diane is awesome. Kalinda started out good on the show, then they practically gave her super powers and she became a bit much, then they didn't know what to do with her and her character went nowhere.

Team Just Here for the Drama.
In reading up on the feud, apparently the show did a thing at the Paley Center and didn't even tell Archie. That's cold.

Yeah, more twists on the feud recently. In addition to JM's "She was filming a different show at the time" and AP's "No, I wasn't" response, Tara Ariano (aka Wingchung) at previously.tv tweeted something about how she blamed JM for the feud, and she said she got all sorts of responses from people who claim to be in the biz saying that the problem was actually with Archie. That Archie is crazy, she's rude to the crew and her husband is her manager and he's completely unprofessional. They said that JM put up with it until she just couldn't do it anymore because Archie was so awful.nt I still...can't quite buy that JM is the innocent party here. I mean, the other cast members have only said good things about AP and said things like "She's very prepared" about JM. And honestly, if AP was the problem, why didn't they fire her a long time ago instead of giving us the last couple of seasons, which were terrible for her character. I guess ultimately, I blame the Kings. They either didn't fire AP or rein her in when they should have and/or they didn't tell their star to suck it up and act like a professional and do her job. They let a feud between two actors really negatively impact their show. The thing about that is difficult to believe is how her time on the show was shortened. I don't know if you watch the show, but Archie's character (Kalinda) was an investigator at Juliana's (Alicia) character's law firm. Archie was the big breakout star, winning an Emmy in her first season, as a complete unknown in America, which basically never ever happens. For the first two seasons the characters are best friends, and a popular thing was their drinking together at a bar, And also, as an investigator, they were always in work scenes together - at the law firm, at the courtroom. So they shared tons of screen time. Then at the end of season 2, we find out that Kalinda had a one night stand with Alicia's husband before the show started. So they're estranged but by the end of season 3 they've reconciled. But then, only partway through season 4 do they stop filming scenes together. They're still colleagues, they still get along, Kalinda is still heavily involved in Alicia's cases . . . but they only contact each other on the phone. No more Kalinda sauntering into the courtroom with the crucial piece of evidence and handing it to Alicia. She still does that for the other characters, but never for Alicia. The only time she ever talks to Alicia is through the phone. The characters are still friendly, they never had some sort of falling out unless you could something that happened a year and a half before they stopped sharing scenes. They also, throughout all this, keep giving Kalinda plenty of her own storylines, including love affairs and such. So if the problem was Archie was such a bitch, why did the show keep her on, have her part be normal, except she never shares a scene with Julianna? Even to the point of having to use spliced shots and repurposing old footage as though it were new? Even when the show should have the characters in the same scene logically, like when Julianna's love interest dies? They didn't cut Archie's screen time in general, just eliminated the time spent with Juliana. So the explanation that Archie was the one with the problem seems odd.

How did this feud start in the first place?

I've never actually watched an episode of "The Good Wife," although I have heard from several people how exceptionally awful it is working on that show and specifically working with the Kings. And I've also heard how unpleasant Julianna Marguiles is supposed to be to work with. It's interesting that Tara Ariano has been receiving tweets that Archie Panjabi was the issue. I have no horse in this race other than it's damn fascinating to see play out on social media. I've heard the same, "JM's a diva" and "working on that show sucks" from set crew.

Interestingly, if you do a little internet searching, former cast member Matt Czuchry seems to allude the "JM is the problem" narrative as well. At least by omission.
He did an "Ask Me Anything" on Reddit, and was pretty effusive in his praise of Christine and Archie, but then all he really says about JM is that she's "incredibly prepared as an actress, and her work (not only just THE GOOD WIFE) speaks for itself."
"Incredibly prepared as an actress" seems like such an obvious roundabout way of answering "what's she like in real life" without being incriminating, but maybe that's just me.

I have no problem believing Margulies has a massive ego, but there are two sides to every story and I doubt Panjabi is blameless. The whole thing is very junior high.

Yeah, nobody really looks good here. How did this feud start in the first place? The story I heard is that JM is supposed to be furious that AP won an Emmy for the show and JM did not. Don't know if this is true.

If it were me, I may inwardly bummed I didn't win too, but OVERALL would be psyched for my costar and show. They're not even in the same category when competing. Oy.

If we go with the JM is a bitch on wheels narrative, it would be quite ironic. JM went on Letterman a few years ago and told a story from her struggling actor/working as a waitress days and had to serve none other than Queen Bitch Julia Roberts herself and was accordingly treated rather badly by Ghoulia.
