Edgar's suicide happened really soon after the breakdown with Carson. I can understand if maybe it was too soon for him to reach out. What I find sad is that he never sought to mend fences with her, even after he retired from TV. He never tried to mend that relationship, find closure, nothing. He never spoke to her again. Joan always seemed open to a reconciliation.

Now reading this really ticks me off: Unplanned surgery caused Joan to stop breathingMalpractice is an understatement. The fact that not just her doctor that she brought along did the procedure, but that the endoscopy facility allowed it to happen? Ugh. That's beyond screwing up. If I was Joan's family, I would be so unbelievably upset about this.

If I was Joan's family, I would be so unbelievably upset about this. I knew that some New York agencies (dunno whether they are city, state or both) were going to investigate what had happened. If this is what they found out, then good. Also, if this is confirmed and the medical office is finally assigned fault, then LAWSUIT, LAWSUIT! (Pardon the shouting) For a woman who had managed to survive all sorts of (cosmetic) surgical procedures over her lifetime, this sounds like a BS way to die.

Can we talk? About "A Piece of Work"? What did you think? I watched it last night and my thoughts are still swirling.

I watched it the other night. She was a very complex women, deeply insecure with a mean streak a mile wide and incredibly generous. The part that's stuck with me though is how on Thanksgiving when she was delivering meals she brought Cooper with her, and he rested his head on her shoulder in the car. It was just such a sweet moment.

Her strength, fear, intelligence, and insecurity -- she just blew me away. I have not been able to stop thinking about the movie.
Melissa seems horrid.

The clinic is calling BS on the biopsy story. They claim no biopsy was done, and she wasn't even under general anesthesia because they don't do it there. I guess everyone wants there to be someone to blame, but with an older woman these things can just happen.
I heard Kathy Griffin's name batted around for FP. I would SO watch that. Joan would love it, but Kathy might have trouble not knocking down her co-hosts.

Kathy Griffin could be shoehorned in just about everything Joan did, if she wanted to. Melissa would probably not be included though.

I am so down for Kathy taking over, and I'm sure Joan would have been, too. I don't know if they will hire Kathy, though. I really hope they don't give the job to Melissa just because.
I mean, Melissa obviously doesn't have to work if she doesn't want to, so I really think she should give up on the whole showbiz thing. It's just not for her.

Melissa should take an indefinite leave of absence-just because. Even if she were suited for the gig (without her mother), I have a hard time picturing her being able to move on and do that in the near future.
