Cate is one of those rare celebrities whose private life has generally been left alone. Psst, names like Edith are coming back into style.

I looked Edith up the other day and its trajectory is kind of unclear. It's obviously declined (#719) dramatically since 1908 (#27), but its revival picked up and possibly peaked in the early '90s (#444). Similar names like Hazel and Violet are much more clearly in vogue, although other names like Mildred and Gladys are not.

I think Cate is just very confident in her acting abilities, like Meryl Streep or Julianne Moore, so she feels she doesn't need to mess with her face. When you know you're good, get Oscar nominations all the time, and you work steadily with the top filmakers, you've made it. Nicole has always struck me as an insecure mess behind the scenes, so that's why she did so many cosmetic procedures.

Cate is the face of SK-II skincare and apparently, according to the Daily Mail, she swears by Emu Oil. But yeah, her skin looks fantastic in comparison to Nicole Kidman. In the photo atwood posted, her skin reminded me of Madonna. I guess both user fillers or something?

A quick look at SK II products on the Sephora shows me that I will never get that Cate Blanchett skin. Their products are hella expensive!

I get the feeling Cate's just very comfortable in her own skin and isn't trying to impress anyone, or look like she's 20. Plus she has access to the best products and treatments. I don't know what her mother looks like, so I don't know if she's got great genes going for her, but I feel the above combo goes a long way with keeping her young.

I wonder if you go to adopt a child and say I already have 3 children, my husband and I are over 40, and Im regularly away for months for my work, whether you would even get an initial appointment, if you were a regular Joe?

I imagine it would be much more difficult for a pleb to adopt under those circumstances. I assume that Cate and all other celebrities go through the private adoption process since they can afford it.

I love the dress. The shoes seem to be an odd choice though.
