New Year's Eve. 15lb cat jumped from a 70 inch cat tree and landed on son's face and slicing his lip open.
The cut didn't go all the way through but the gash was pretty wide. I didn't want to risk infection from the cat claw so we went to the er. Two stitches and antibiotics.
The stiches were removed today (they were mostly there to prevent a nasty scar) and just removing two was incredibly tedious.
As I sat with my hands on my son's head and watched, I was grateful it wasn't worse. I thought of Carrie and how wretched having all those stitches in had to have been, likewise with removal.

From the little I know of her, she seems to have exceptionally bad body image issues so I wouldn't be shocked if the scar is actually not that bad and she needs therapy more than anything else. It is a scary number of stitches though. From what I've read today, she was a nervous wreck backstage on Sunday night - something that's WAY out of normal character for her. I've studied all the pictures, etc. and all I can tell is maybe, MAYBE a little difference in one side of her face that looks to have been fixed by fillers or whatever they do to faces these days. Certainly not anything remotely resembling a horrible disfigurement. And besides that...girl should just f-ing *own* it, whatever it is! This irrational fear and self-consciousness is what's unattractive. Think of the people who sincerely DO have disfigurements of one kind or another, and this woman is making a huge to-do about a facial cut?!? She still has that voice which is her real bread and butter, right?!? I think things have gone so right for her for so long, she had little intestinal fortitude to draw upon when this accident happened. Her management needs to get her out there with some kind of "Carrie tells all" interview. I see a Hoda Kotb exclusive in her future!

I think that's a lot easier said than done, especially in a very image-conscious profession.

I think that's a lot easier said than done, especially in a very image-conscious profession. Women are torn apart for their appearances, and entertainment professionals even more than others. I would be a total wreck in her shoes. And I contribute to it! How many times have I snarked on someone’s filler only to find out they’re on prednisone or something.

I can see the scarring between her upper lip and nose. Poor thing. I hope she continues to heal. I'm sure it looks much worse to her than it does to me.
I have learned a new word: philtrum. That's the indentation directly below your nose. But I don't know what that whole area is called.

She is gorgeous and unbelievably talented. I hope she is able to remember that and not get too hung up on her perceived flaw.

She's in good company. Patsy Cline made a comeback after a car accident left her with terrible scarring on her forehead.

Her lips look noticeably bigger to me, like she's injected them with something but I wonder if that was to try to disguise the scarring.
