I'm not a fan of Rosie and I'm not a fan of The View. But if there's a possibility that Rosie and Star are going to have a smackdown (and I think that's an inherent possibility) I just may have to watch. When does she start?

Tell me, when does The View come on (day, channel & time, please) and when will Rosie be there to start some sparks flying? I'd loooove to see her take Star down a few pegs! Oh, and I really do think it's great that she snarked on Tom Cruise. I wish more celebrities would call him on his particular brand of crazy.

Did anyone else think she got a very luke-warm reception at the Daytime Emmys?

So it's official. Rosie just joined Baba Wawa on stage at the Daytime Emmys to announce that Rosie is joining The View in September.
ETA: Nuna, you're too quick for me. You beat me to the punch.

I hate being forced to defend Rosie, but that's not how it happened. I watched the show every afternoon that summer, and for at least a week beforehand Rosie talked on air about how she was going to talk to Selleck about his NRA ad, and she showed the ad on air. She even mentioned that she had had a personal phone conversation with him to make sure he was willing to talk about it and he said sure. Then, when he came on, they had an entire interview segment about the movie he was promoting at the time ( The Love Letter). It opened the same weekend as The Phantom Menace so they joked about that. Then before a commercial Rosie noted that they were going to come back and talk about the NRA stuff. I know the myth has become that he wandered into the studio and was ambushed, but the reality of the tape tells a different story. Even if she was lying about talking to him on the phone, he could not have avoided the fact that she talked for many days beforehand about what she was going to ask him. Plus I saw with my own eyes her ask him before the commercial break that they were going to come back and talk about gun control and he said sure and seemed perfectly happy with it. So even if she had only thought of asking him that day, he had ample opportunity to say no, he wasn't going to talk about it. He couldn've left at the commercial break and he would still have gotten his promotion for the movie in. Here's a transcript of the event from an NRA website. See what you people made me do? Defend Rosie! If you read the actual transcript she comes across as pretty reasonable, and you can see entire paragraphs he was allowed to say without her saying anything. She's not the one who comes across as bitchy in that exchange. She keeps making concessions to him, saying that she doesn't think anyone in the NRA cared less about Columbine than she did. His ludicrous statement that he's not a spokesman for the NRA is then added on when he says he doesn't hang out with people from the NRA, and Rosie replies that everyone "NRA or not NRA" tends to hang out with those whose views are similar.

I didn't realize she was that reasonable during that exchange with Tom Selleck. I feel kind of dumb for not bothering to look up the transcript first. I happened to agree wtih her on the gun control issue but I bought into the media's interpretation of her "attack" on Tom Selleck. He seemed like the idiot based on that transcript.

Rosie on the View alongside Star Jones. How is that going to work? She hates Star. Rosie will certainly shake things up since, Lord knows, she has a view, but she is a bit aggressive and cantankerous when expressing her views. I cant' see how she will fit in. She will probably scare poor Elizabeth.

Um, I just read the entire transcript and I don't know what people are so upset about. I'm sure she was probably loud while saying it, but she really didn't say anything unreasable. In fact, Tom Selleck is the one who ended up looking like an idiot.
