I didn't know about the prosthetic arm--that's really incredible and a very kind gesture.

You should see the video. The arm was made with a 3D printer. Pretty cool stuff.

Oh dear. No Wol, didn't mean to slam RDJ at all. I was just saying that I can see where one would see him as one in the same as Tony Stark. I'm definitely a fan of his and didn't mean to snark.

He's generally great with kids. With adults, not so much.

Low-blow. You can criticize Downey without resorting to going back to his drug years. Hell, I loved Downey until he started the Iron Man years. I thought he was much more interesting when he took chances on roles. But he's earned job security. I don't blame his choice in doing all blockbusters. He doesn't have to be a schmuck about it, though.

I guess that's the thing. He's a really good actor and it would be nice to see him stretch himself again, which the Iron Man movies don't require. But that's his choice. This recent behavior sounds really dickish but I've read a bunch of things about him giving money without fanfare to recovery-related causes that I choose to not dwell on the bad stuff.

Not knocking on RDJ specifically, but I think, for celebrities, it's easy to give money. Their accountants probably tell them to do it for tax purposes regardless of their beliefs/personal causes. It seems much, much harder to not believe turn into a dick because there's so much smoke being blown up your ass. Maintaining perspective that you are still just another human, and not inherently superior to those without money and status, seems very difficult for celebs.

Assholes all around in that article. Yeah, cause it's so much cooler and artsy to be a drug addict. What is this? 1994? Being sober makes people less exciting and daring and "brave." So? I don't care if someone is a movie star or a cashier, the boring sober life is ALWAYS preferable to addiction. Hasn't he had enough experience to be able to recognize a diamond in the rough from lame? That's one of the reasons major stars who do indie films are lauded. Recognizing talent is a talent in itself.

He's fifty years old and he hasn't been a struggling artist in ten years. Really, dude?
Plus, he's got a point about indie movies being harder- maybe he doesn't want to go back to that. I don't think that's horrible, though the next line makes him sound kind of jerky.
