I wore bikinis. Heck, my mother even had my pictures done in a couple of them. 1976, there I am, in all my five year old glory, mugging for the Sears Portrait Studio in a lime green, terry cloth bikini with big gold rings connecting the top and the sides of the bottom. I farking loved my bikinis and strutted around in them all the time. Granted, I wasn't allowed to go topless.
I don't see anything wrong with the pictures of Cindy's kid. You can sexualize anything, but I don't think those pictures are sexy. It's a kid in a swimsuit. It's not as if she's made up like Jonbenet Ramsey and licking the camera.

But the first picture isn't even a bathing suit - isn't that underwear? What is that doing in a swimsuit catalog? The rest of them .. fine in the proper content (in the catalog). But after everyone sees the first one, that's all that's in your mind and they all become questionable.

I wore one too, and when very little, just the bottoms. There is nothing cuter IMHO.
I think it's the coy expression the little girl is wearing that bothers me, not the suits. It's an adult look, IMHO. ANd that is the photographers fault, and Cindy for approving them.

It's not just you. I completely agree. To me, these women tend to look a bit cartoonish.
I don't think Cindy is homely. From our hometown, I'd argue that there are much better looking women. She went into modeling and got a break.
As one of her class's valedictorians, her picture is up in my our old high school's library. In her picture, she looks average, at best. Just like any normal, high school senior girl.

The first photo is a come-hither, sport's illustrated looking pose that throws the whole photo-shoot off for me.

I suppose I sound prudish, but to me, putting a bikini, which is styled to look sexy, on a child is disturbing. It makes me think of that line of Abercrombie & Fitch children's underwear a few years ago with suggestive sayings printed on them. I think they were immediately discontinued because there was an outcry over them. I can't stand the thought of putting "sexy" outfits on kids.
I used to think Cindy Crawford was smarter than your average model. But then over the years I heard quotes from her that made me wonder. I concluded that the very act of modelling erodes the brain. Think about it: These people have nothing to say about what they wear and how they look. Someone else literally dresses them then sends them to go parading down a cat-walk or in front of a camera with the only requirement being that they look sexy/hostile. And for this they're treated like elite members of society. So I suppose even a smart one will end up with the mentality of a spoiled 8-year old, eventually.

I agree with everyone who is saying it isn't the clothes so much as the poses and come-hither looks that the girls have on their sweet little faces that makes the pictures so inappropriate.
Look at the picture of the little girls hugging. The girl on the left has her butt sticking out and is pulling her friend's head to her chest while looking at the camera with an almost-sultry expression on her face ("Do you want some of this?"). It's squicky and I agree with whoever said those pictures are a pedophile's dream.
I guess I'm old-fashioned, because even though prepubescent girls don't have breasts yet, I still think a parent should instill a sense of modesty by covering their chests, even as young girls. No, there's nothing wrong with a 5 year old girl not wearing a bathing suit top, but there IS a lot wrong with our society and there are too many people who get off by seeing a 5 year old without a bathing suit top. I'd prefer to not give them their jollies with my child.
And there's no way I'd believe CC hasn't had plastic surgery ~ as someone said, the proof is all over her face!!! Girl needs to look in a mirror.

It's not as if she's made up like Jonbenet Ramsey and licking the camera. Jon Benet never "licked" the camera to my knowledge. I agree that pageants sexualized little girls. Little girls are dressed and made up to look like women. I think Cindy's daughter's pictures are sexualized as well. The lower back tattoo is provocative, as well as the topless pose. I don't think parents were as aware of the presence of pedophiles like they are today. I went topless frequently when I was little, but my daughter sure hasn't. After viewing a site that allows you to see how many registered sex offenders there are in your area, it changes your perspective.

Another thing that always bugged me is how the media acts like she attended college for a long time.
While Cindy was a h.s. valedictorian and was accepted into Northwestern, she only stayed there for a quarter (9-10 weeks).
In my opinion, she's no better off than the rest of the models. Well, save for Christy, who graduated from NYU.
