Aside from being actresses, there are some stark differences between Emma Watson and Rose McGowan that put them on the path to feminism at different times in their lives. EW had a solid upbringing while RM was abused in a cult, EW became famous by playing a smart spunky girl in a well respected franchise while RM's big break was playing a hot chick who got off'd in a horror movie franchise, EW is part of a generation that is embracing feminism (not to say it's easy, but it is a little easy-ER to call yourself a feminist these days) while RM was EW's age in the late 90's when Britney Spears's virginal girl-woman hotness was being celebrated. But they're both expressing feminist views now, and that's all that really matters. It's wonderful that Emma Watson spoke before the UN, but let's be real, a B movie star ex-GF of Marilyn Manson isn't going to get those kind of invitations. We all have to work with the cards we're dealt, and I respect anyone who makes the effort to learn and grow from whatever circumstances life has given them, which is something that both Emma Watson and Rose McGowan are doing.

At least Rose is doing something besides running a lifestyle website and telling women to get cleanses.

Apparently she and her agent have parted ways as a result of "Madam Panhandler"-gate.

Yeah. I think she might get black listed for that. I hope not. But good for her, I guess. She had to be aware that was a potential consequence and she went ahead and went public.

I don't think she cares too much. She gave an interview after the tweet but before her agent dumped her. She seems pretty realistic about her acting career. She doesn't say she is completely done acting but its not something she is really thinking about right now. I think she is more focused on directing. I watched the short film she directed, Dawn and I do think she has some talent as a director. It had a really interesting aesthetic and she definitely has a strong point of view. I would be curious to watch what she does next.

Good for her! If she's not really concerned as an actress to be blacklisted and welcomes the backlash that will follow, then I say right on!
Hollywood needs to wake its ass up and join the 21st century, along with tons of other markets like wages for women, teachers pay, etc. It's a racket!

I have this mild obsession with the finances of people who aren't A list. If you tell me that Beyonce or Paul McCartney has this many hundreds of millions of dollars, I sort of tune out, but when I read that Rose McGowan is reportedly worth $18 million, I'm like "Hmm? Let me look her up." Assuming that figure is accurate, it doesn't look like she would have made that money through her acting career. In one of the links posted earlier on the page, she says she's not really worried about being blacklisted because she has a lot of other businesses she's been working on. Aside from directing, does anyone know what her other ventures have been?
