Unless it was for the wrong foot.
I find it kind of amusing that she said she doesn't enjoy a "cheeseball" that's been "manscaped." Umm. Marilyn Manson was a complete "cheeseball", he wasn't necessarily "manscaped" but he sure the hell wore more makeup than she did. I bet he took up the majority of the time getting ready when they went out somewhere. "Actors from an earlier era." I guess she can say that since he wasn't an actor. Eyeroll.

When I hear "manscaped" I think it's a reference to how much body hair the man has and how well he keeps it groomed.

I find that Maxim cover photo incredibly offensive, and it's really hard to offend me.

I agree. That's absolutely disgusting.

I swear I'm not trying to start anything, but how do you find it offensive? All I see is a picture of her as her character in Grindhouse.....

Huh, when I saw the recent pics of her, I almost made a snide comment that her face looks like mine did after I was in a bad car wreck. Now I'm worried I walked around for months looking like I had bad plastic surgery. That's just embarrassing. Me, vain? Pfft. I know airbrushing is here to stay, but she looks nothing like herself, or her hot former self, in that Maxim cover. Grumble. It didn't offend me but now I'm wondering if it should?

I didn't follow Grindhouse and so the entire thing was decontextualized for me. It twigged that it was kind of for a movie but there's still something really weird and exploitative about it. It's like a gross declasse way of empowering women who have suffered violence, like the only way to get over a horrible violent moment (amputation) is through a sexualization of violence (the machine gun leg). If Heather Mills had done the same style of shoot with her own prosthetic leg, as much as I don't like her, I'd admire her bravery. This is just too gross and exploitative. I don't care if it's supposed to harken back to exploitation B-movies. It really is not an acceptable portrayal of a woman in a magazine that is already incredibly degrading to and objectifying of women.

Wow, that's an interesting and disturbing point. Especially in light of that Salon article which opened my eyes to a world I wished didn't exist. I need to think about this for a while.

The pic made me think of amputees from the Iraq war.
