I hope that the 9-11 comment ends his career.

Well, I didn't know Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg are brothers.

I hope that the 9-11 comment ends his career. What a moron he is for saying that. I wonder if he's started to confuse the movies for real life. That action hero shit he does in films isn't real . Maybe someone needs to explain that to him. His career won't end though. I don't even think it'll be remotely affected. His current film opened well enough to be considered a box office hit, so things are going well for him right now. By the time his next film rolls around, this flap will be old news. He's already issued his apology, so the story should die out fairly soon. I really don't know what it take to kill a celebrity career these days, but making some crass and insensitive comments about 9/11 won't do it. I remember Marion Cotillard (right after she won an Oscar) coming out with some nonsense about 9/11 being a conspiracy theory concocted by the American goverment. Everyone was speculating that her career in US films would be over because of what she said. But she's since been nominated for another Oscar and been cast in huge films like Public Enemies and Inception. Her career is actually stronger after she made those comments. Her 9/11 comments have been all but forgotten about. Same holds true for Mark. He'd need to kill his wife or something to have a career ending moment. And I'm not even sure that would cut it.

Wow, so Mark Wahlberg is dumber then advertised. Good to know.

Maybe someone needs to explain that to him. Ain't that the truth. As much as I hate on Tom Cruise who seems to never be able to divorce himself from any role he's ever played, even HE would never be as awful as Wahlberg for actual claiming he could have averted 9/11 with his awesomeness. Then again, Marky Mark did gouge a man's eye out so maybe he thought his special brand of bad-ass-ism it would have worked on the terrorists. I honestly can't get over the depth of the insensitivity of those remarks. I mean there WERE actual heroes on Flight 93 -- what's he saying? He's a bigger hero in his mind because HE would have been the one who averted the tragedy? Just go fuck yourself now, sir. Nothing does. And even if he didn't apologize for what he said (and I'm sure he didn't mean it), the film roles would keep pouring in.

I don't have any problems with his statements. When I was watching that film United 93, I so wanted to be on that plane and take those terrorists out.
the thing about Marky Mark is that he can be a tool, but I don't think he's any worse than anyone out there and if he's really atoned for his past mistakes, then I won't hold them against him.

Didn't they say shortly after 9/11 that he was supposed to be on one of the planes? Or was that somebody else?
Anyway it was stupid and insensitive. One of the dumbest things anybody can do is say, "Well I would......," about any situation they aren't in and they've never been in. The fact is you may think you know how you'd react and what you'd do, but you don't really know for sure, and most of the time you better pray to God (or hope really hard if you aren't a believer) you are never forced to find out. Bah that is one of my pet peeves -- people judging what they'd do in some horrible situation when their ass is nowhere near it.
Besides we have no idea what really happened on any of the planes, we only know a little bit about the one that crashed in PA. For all we know the passengers/crew did try to fight them on the other planes.
Donnie needs to kick his ass.

if he's really atoned for his past mistakes, then I won't hold them against him. He hasn't. He's never apologized for blinding a Vietnamese man when he was younger. He's even admitted that the right thing to do would be to seek him out, but no longer feels the need to do so and has no problem sleeping at night because he's forgiven himself. Well, goody for you, Marky Mark! How great and magnanimous of him to forgive himself. I don't think his past as a thuggish youth should necessarily be held against him forever, but the fact that he has the means to make restitution after all these years and refuses to do so? He can step on a rusty nail, as far as I'm concerned.

The thing is, most people usually say "If I was in that situation, this is what I would do...." I don't think it was that uncommon.
Didn't someone just say that on the actor's studio that he was sorry about what happened with the assault stuff?
I think he's more of a tool to walk around like he's the king of hollywood.
