This whole thing has been so shocking to me because it seems like it's so out of left field. I mean, obviously Owen must have had on-going problems but they've remained pretty much under the radar. If Britney, on the other hand, tried to kill herself (my personal bet once she loses custody) it wouldn't be so surprising.

I keep seeing Luke Wilson's suicide attempt from The Royal Tannenbaums run through my head. Owen co-wrote the screenplay and his character in the movie is a sad case himself.
Oops. Rushmore did not depict a suicide attempt.

I think the fact that he stays out of the public eye makes this more real and sad, at least for me. I adore him as an actor, and hope everything turns out ok. For someone I don't know personally, I sure do feel bad.

I can't believe that some of the media is blaming Kate Hudson. I certainly hope she isn't blaming herself.
I'm not a fan and I certainly hope he gets the help he needs as well. I think anyone that is in so much pain that they want to end their life is tragic. I also feel terrible for Luke Wilson who is the person that supposedly found him.

Same here, I'm not a fan in that I wouldn't deliberately seek out the movies he's in, but I've always enjoyed movies with him in it. I've always preferred him to Luke anyway-Luke always looks like he's melting.
This is so out of the blue. I hope he'll get out of this okay.

He's an actor that I had no idea I liked until I heard this news. I hope he gets the help he needs. My thoughts exactly.

Rushmore was on TV this Sunday and I was watching it. Love that movie, I've got to get the DVD.
Max had his moment (or month, as I recall) of depressive funk, but he snapped out of it to triumph at the end of the movie.
Movies---Reel Life---sigh.

Oh, my little Butterscotch Stallion! I hope he comes out of this OK. I don't actively seek his movies, but he almost always ends up being the best part of whatever movie I do happen to catch him in. Plus, anyone who had that much to do with the The Royal Tenenbaums, the only film having nothing to do with the mob or Pixar that has cracked my Top 5, is aces in my book.
ONTD has a picture of Samuel L. Jackson visiting the hospital, which is sweet because, hey, a visit from Jackson would always rule. It felt weird looking at it, though, because it seems as if the paparazzi are setting camp out there and this is something that really, really should be a private thing.

Poor Owen. I heard that he had been hospitalized but I didn't have time to check the net in the past couple of days and I assumed it was for "exhaustion" aka accidental overdose. A suicide attempt did not even cross my mind. Just goes to show that it's always the comedians that are the most tortured. I really hope he is okay. I love the Wilsons, and he is my fave. His brothers have to be so torn up over this. It's sweet that they have been staying at the hospital with him.

This is probably too much information, but I once tried to take my own life (stupid, I know)....So, I can imagine the depths of depression and despair he must have been feeling. My heart goes out to him and his family.
