I can't believe this was Celine's FIRST Met Gala. Anna should be ashamed!

So happy to see all the Celine love, and especially for 'Water from the Moon'! When I was growing up in Canada I would try to record muchmusic's French Kiss so that I could watch 'Ziggy', which was my absolute fav.

I like her, can't help it! I think her career started when she was so young - Rene molded and polished, et cetera (ugh) and Celine was dazzled and enfolded in the relationship with daddy/manager. I think they genuinely loved each other and loved their life. But GIRL - you have Celine's Life 2.0 to come so I hope she enjoys every second. Be fabulous and go to every damn gala you can.

I have always loved her. I think she is a genuinely kind and decent person -- something in short supply these days -- and I have always loved her voice. Some think it's overly dramatic. . . I don't care. Love it love it love it. ^_^

I will state, though, that I don't believe I will ever need a reason to hear "My Heart Will Go On" or "Because You Loved Me" ever again.
On the list of Most Overplayed Songs of the 90's, those two might be #1 and #2.

This reminds me of Mariah Carey, although I think Celine is a more stable person and will fare much better with her new independence. I'm not a Celine fan, but I have never heard a single thing that made me think negatively of her, so I root for her.

ON the list of Most Overplayed Songs of the 90's, those two might be #1 an #2. "Because You Loved Me" is one of her very weakest hits IMO and it's always bugged me. I'm a recent devotee to Titanic so even though "My Heart Will Go On" irritated the crap out of me in the 90s, I'm into it now. It fit perfectly with the movie.

This is somewhat off-topic, but could you elaborate on this? What got you into it? It came out when I was in college and I managed to have a reasonably successful life without ever having seen it, but a shocking amount of my students are really, really into it. Is there a new surge in popularity, or is it a sustained thing? signed, baffled but earnest.
