Agreed. Thanks for putting it so succinctly - that pretty much sums up why I really don't want to see it either. Plus, having to hear Crowe in some sit-down go on & on & on about ' family,' (..how he loves his, and he's sure Americans love theirs - WTF??) and 'Americans just want to put food on the table for their kids,' and 'I love America (said REAL condescendingly -- kinda, like ' yeah it's an effed up place, and they're hated around the world - but I, Russell Crowe, deem it a semi-worthy place) -- well, just...UGH. That, and the fact that he looks like Barney Rubble's uglier, much older brother in it -- just NO. Kudos for the Bierko Oscar campaign too. ;D I'd like to see it happen, and I'd like to see his performance - but I just don't know if I can bring myself to suffer Crowe. I just hope the whole thing tanks. I want 'Brangie's' Mr & Mrs. Smith, to kick Fbucket out into the stratosphere. Only because I know that will really make him foam at the mouth. ETA: Take a gander at what Craig said in full..it's a doozy...heeee - I REALLY like this man.

I don't like what RC says most almost all of the time, but I must admit, I find him INFINITELY hotter than CB. Russell's just got that smoldering thing going on, and CB is ice cold.
And I think Russell's a great actor. A total asshat, but a fucking great actor.
ETA: And, he was pretty normal and almost charming on The Daily Show. I do wish Jon would have called him on his shit though.

Craig's quote was hilariously restrained. Clearly Russell ignored him and treated him like garbage throughout the whole shoot, but Craig is trying to be somewhat positive about the experience. While getting a dig in. Hee.
Russell Crowe circa LA Confidental was just as hot as Craig Bierko. However, Crusty today is just a disgusting, bloated mess that we all know way too much about.

Didn't Craig Bierko date Meg Ryan for very brief time?
That's a joke that almost writes itself.
But really, Russ is so silly. People can't even enjoy his work for thinking about what an ass he is.
And I hate how he wraps himself in his wife and kid to shield him from criticism about his beastly behavior. It reminds me of political scoundrels who wrap themselves in the American flag to avoid taking hits. It's a cheap trick.
As for Craig's performance, it sounds like a real breakthrough. Hugh Jackman had better watch his back. The role of Joe in Sunset Blvd. may no longer be his for the taking.

He sings, too? No wonder Russell's pissed--Craig can not only act but can probably sing him and his Grunts under the table. "Crowe-Magnon" is inspired, but a slur to Cro-Magnon man, one of the first examples of modern Homo sapiens in Europe--and part of clan that was so successful that in the space of a few thousand years they were the dominant hominid species on Earth and the Neandertals were finished. Just sayin'

Anyone surprised? LinkThe last remains of my post-Gladiator goodwill are gone. He has a pattern of bullying people who can't defend themselves against an A-lister. Perhaps Cinderella Man's less-than-expected BO has him feeling touchy... I went and looked for the Bierko interview and I can't see why Crowe would be upset. Seems to me that Bierko's just being honest and not doing any asskissing. "It was made very clear to me by people involved in the movie that Russell wouldn't be friendly to me," Bierko said, "because I was playing his adversary. Not because of any other reason than that's how Russell works. And that's absolutely fine. This isn't high school. I'm doing this because I want to buy my apartment — and because this is my life. I've actually gone out and beat the street for 15 years and earned a Ron Howard movie. So I will do everything I know how to do to support Russell in his performance." "The "Cinderella Man" boxing match took a month to film, a shirtless month of swapping sweat and stage blood with Crowe, and of the two 40-year-olds injuring themselves. (Bierko ripped an abdominal muscle and fractured his wrist.) And yet? "I don't know him from Adam. There was literally not a single moment where I felt like we were actually bonding. Or having a conversation. Even — there were cursory greetings. And I was almost sorry he did this …. He had a physician there, this really great physician. And I was having some trouble, because I'd tweaked my back. And he sent this guy over. And I thought, 'Oh, I don't want to see the nice guy behind the curtain.'"

Karma's a bitch, ain't it?
Seriously though, what's wrong w/ him? No. Really? What. is. wrong. with. him.
They're saying he got pissed that he couldn't place a call to Australia. Crusty McLardAss's reaction? Bean the working class joe that's there to help upside the head w/ the phone (cnn is reporting) - dude required stitches, so it must have been nasty.
Bet. any money. that Crusty and his peeps try to spin this that he was worried and anxious about Lil' Crusty Jr.
Heh

Change "actor" to "model", and we could be talking about Naomi Campbell. Being great at their jobs does not excuse their monstrous behaviour. He needs some anger management classes, and perhaps a little time behind bars.

The Mercer (and Andre Balazs's other hotels like the Chateau Marmont) pride themselves on letting celebrities get away with almost anything, so they'll feel "protected". People can turn their rooms into heroin dens for months on end and won't get kicked out. If they filed charges against Rusty, his behavior must have been evil.
