Not surprised by that story at. all.
I don't think the GQ interview is going to go down well in Hollywood. it's not really their (Hollywood's) style to take care of business in public but I cannot imagine that kind of public dissing of some powerful, well-liked people (De Niro, Clooney) isn't going to go unnoticed, I don't think. I also think a lot is riding on Cinderella Man - if it tanks I can see a big pile-on as all the built-up spleen is vented. If it's a hit, however, people might have to keep quiet a little longer.
Crowe is proof that in Hollywood, the bottom line is...the bottom line. He's a first class jackass and not many people dispute that, but it's all forgiven as long as he brings in the $. Here's to hoping the next films flails.

" I also think a lot is riding on Cinderella Man - if it tanks I can see a big pile-on as all the built-up spleen is vented." **
See that's what I'm waiting for. Because once the backlash begins there is going to be nothing but beer swilling and argy bargy for weeks. Nothing like a pasty, white, arrogant, aggressive fat man to mix things up a bit. Bring on the biff.
Hopefully, Chubbs will make it home to Australya for the aftermarth and entertain the populus with a few drunken laps around Sydney in his helicopter.
**Because I may have 99 names for Mr Crowe but I still can't quote.

Re: the pic above
What I want to know is, why the 50's pompadour, Fatboy? He always has a variation of the 'do happening. It looks stoopid.
Also, hi Dool! I promise I'm not stalking you, just glad to see ya here. Also curious as to the meaning of 'argy bargy'. Heh.

Heh! FoxFair, I threw that one in for you!
Urban Dictionary: a heated discussion, perhaps one that has become bad-tempered enough to amount to a spat or minor quarrel
A minor quarrel for Russ is fisticuffs in a tux, so if CM bombs I'm going to be very entertained.

Aw, thanks for indulging me Dool. You're lucky this isn't irl. I'd be bugging you to say "you" over and over (my Aussie pals say "you" with more syllables than I could ever imagine using!) and then making really, really stupid jokes involving the word "root". Oh dear.
If this movie bombs...oh, the schadenfreude will be so, so delicious. When's it released? I know someone who reviews movies for a major paper and he might be able to score me an advanced copy - if so I will report back here toute de suite!

Of course I have absolutely no idea whether or not it will bomb but one thing I have noticed is that there seems to be a pattern to things. Build 'em up then tear 'em down - an arc, if you will. I wouldn't be surprised if his arc had peaked - I often think the reviews/reception have more to do with outside factors (i.e. the arc of the main actor, director, studio etc. and where it currently is) than they do with the actual quality of a film. We shall see, though...

So whilst nursing my ebay purchase online, I hear Moobies dulcet tones eminating from my idiot box. Fortunately/unfortunately I only heard the last part of the interview where a journalist asked him a[n unrelated] question about Eucalyptus. Crowe instructed the journalist that if he was going to ask a question on that topic, he should 'step out from behind the camera', insinuating the journalist was afraid or cowardly. Journalist proceeds to step a metre away from the camera and says, 'I'm not hiding, I'll look straight down the aisle and ask you that question.' McManBoobs response? Smarmy smile, thumbs up and proceeds to totally snub the journalist and moves onto the next question. Fucking ass clown. Anywho, I was reading the news this very morning and here's what I found. The thought of thugby players who are the size of a house, wearing jersey's with 'Cinderella Man' across the front is HILARIOUS. The irony is delicious.

Oh, me too, Moldy! He's one of the only celebrities that I actually find to be dead sexy and would most likely sleep with if given the opportunity. (Fortunately, my current partner shares his 'man grimace' and his stubble so I'm doing okay without Rus right now.)
I don't know what to think about his Al Quada nonsense, though. Part of me thinks he's making it up to sound important but another part of me thinks it could be just weird enough to be true. I've found that when American culture filters through to other countries it usually ends up mangled and really odd, so I can kind of (kiiiind of) understand a foreigner wanting to kidnap him. (kiiiind of)

I haven't seen many of his movies, so I can't really comment on them. But the more interviews I read - especially the asshat comments - the more I want to meet him, just so I can point at him and say:
"You! Off my land!"
(Granted, he'd have to be in the U.S. at the time.)
